Dr. Napier is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who completed her undergraduate education at Indiana University with Honors and High Distinction, her medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indiana, and her residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she earned the ‘Award for Excellence in Outpatient Care’. Outside of the residency related patient care responsibilities, she also provided weekend Psychiatry coverage at a children’s psychiatric hospital in Kansas during her last year and a half of residency.
Dr. Napier has experience working with a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses, and inpatient and outpatient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, geriatric patients, veterans, and the underserved community mental health population. She values and respects the individuality and uniqueness of others, and appreciates the vast variability in life experiences, backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles which she encounters in patient care.
Utilizing a ‘biopsychosocial model’ of patient care, Dr. Napier believes that one’s biology, psychology, culture, lifestyle, life experiences, and personal preferences should all be considered in the patient’s care. She works with patients to help them achieve their wellness, healing, and life goals, while on their paths to becoming their ‘best selves’, by striving to form a strong therapeutic alliance built on compassion and trust, coupled with evidence-based medication management, and psychotherapeutic insights and techniques. Occasionally, she may believe that additional therapy is needed and may ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.
Dr. Napier’s practice currently focuses on the treatment of the adult population with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, and PTSD. Talkiatry takes medication management seriously. All state-controlled substance databases are reviewed and taken into consideration.
