Get to know

Emily Hill, MD

Dr. Hill is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 5 years. At the heart of Dr. Hill’s clinical approach is a strong emphasis on shared decision-making and psychoeducation.

Dr. Hill's practice focuses on medication management. Typically she offers this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30 minute follow-up visits. Occasionally Dr. Hill may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.

She received her medical degree from Stony Brook University and went on to complete her residency in psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital. After completing training, Dr. Hill remained at Zucker Hillside Hospital, where she worked as an Attending Psychiatrist in the Women’s Mental Health Unit, treating patients with a variety of psychiatric illnesses including peripartum mental health problems and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Dr. Hill then transitioned to working at Stony Brook Medicine as Division Director for Adult Inpatient Psychiatry as well as Associate Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program. She continued to see psychiatric inpatients with a variety of diagnoses and spent much of her time supervising and teaching residents and medical students. She was awarded “Teacher of the Year” in 2019 by the psychiatry residents.
