Dr. Joshua Kaufman is a fellowship-trained, board-certified psychiatrist who completed his Adult Psychiatry residency training at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Kaufman is also fellowship-trained in Addiction Psychiatry.
His practice specializes in medication management, with the integration of supportive, cognitive-behavioral, and motivational psychotherapy. He may find that additional therapy would be advantageous to you and so you also have the option of bringing a therapist into your treatment team to provide you with the best outcomes.
Dr. Kaufman was accepted into medical school directly from high school where he entered the combined undergraduate/medical school “Scholars for Medicine” program at Stony Brook University on Long Island. He then completed his psychiatric residency training at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and completed his Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Northwell Health/Zucker-Hillside Hospital on Long Island.
He has a wide range of clinical experience but has specific expertise in treating depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. His approach is patient-centered, collaborative, and motivational. Dr. Kaufman strives to help patients achieve their treatment goals and life goals.
