Dr. Niru Nahar is double board-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency training at Harlem Hospital-Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute-Columbia University. She has practiced in various settings in her career, including inpatient, community mental health, and outpatient. In addition, Dr. Nahar has held leadership and teaching positions where she instructed medical students, residents, and fellows.
She has more than 16 years of experience treating patients with anxiety, depression, grief, family and relationship issues, career changes, and other mental health issues. She uses pharmacotherapy along with cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and supportive therapy as needed.
The philosophy of her practice is to collaborate with patients to meet their specific needs to make an impact in various stages of their life.
