Susmita Hazarika, MD

Dr. Susmita Hazarika is a board eligible psychiatrist, who completed her psychiatry residency at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina. She was a board-certified psychiatrist practicing in India after completing her medical school at Gauhati medical college, followed by a psychiatry residency at Silchar Medical College. She moved to the US after her marriage and continued to pursue her career in psychiatry here.

She has expertise in treating patients with various psychopathologies which include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD and behavioral issues associated with other medical conditions. She believes in adopting individual treatment plans tailored to meet the requirements of patients based on their presentations and goals. She adopts an approach that combines evidence-based psychopharmacology alongside supportive, cognitive behavioral and individualized psychotherapy. Patients can expect to find an environment that is secure and free of judgments where they can take an active role in achieving their desired goals. With her vast and diverse clinical experience, she can help with the cross-cultural psychiatric issues experienced by people of multi-cultural origin.
