"No matter how bad life seems to be, things can always get better."
After graduating from Yale medical school and completing residency training at UCLA, Dr. Newton spent most of the rest of his career as a Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA and Baylor College of Medicine. He taught and supervised medical students, psychiatric residents, fellows and junior faculty in addition to conducting federally-funded psychiatric research and treating patients. He has published over 100 papers in professional journals and has co-edited several books. Four years ago he left academic medicine in order to spend more providing direct patient care. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and specializes in medication management, which was the focus of his earlier research.
Dr. Newton has 33+ years of professional experience and prefers to focus on the management of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD though he has experience treating almost all psychiatric problems at some time in the course of his career. He has found telepsychiatry to be extremely effective and efficient, especially in combination with psychotherapy.
