Vanessa Micka, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who treats adults. Vanessa’s practice focuses on medication management. She also believes that psychiatric medication works best with therapy in most cases and asks that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best mental health outcome.
She received both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Dominican College. She later received her Master of Arts in Psychology at Iona College, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing at Columbia University. She has clinical experience in multiple settings in the last six years. She has worked in inpatient psychiatric settings in hospitals as a nurse and a nurse practitioner. Her most recent inpatient work was at Four Winds Hospital on the adult inpatient unit. She has also worked as a nurse practitioner at community health centers and outpatient treatment offices. Her recent positions as an outpatient provider were at Phelps Memorial Hospital for Northwell Health and a group practice. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, her goal is to provide individualized medication treatment plans to each patient, utilizing psychopharmacology.
