Dr. Vazhuvelil Menon is a psychiatrist who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is double board-certified in both adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She has been practicing for 8 years.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She received her medical degree from American University of Antigua, before moving back to New York to complete her residency in General Psychiatry at Albany Medical Center. Following her general psychiatry training, she then completed a 2-year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Westchester Medical Center in New York. After completing her fellowship, Dr. Menon moved to Texas and worked for Texas Children's Hospital.
While having treated a wide variety of patients of different age groups, her primary clinical focus has been treating children and young adults with inattention, hyperactivity, and mood disorders. Dr. Menon's primary focus is on medication management, with some supportive/emotional therapy. Visits with her tend to be 30 minutes for medication related follow-ups. For the best outcome, Dr. Menon may suggest adding therapy.
