Virtual mental health care is expanding access to treatment. In many cases, online clinicians can prescribe medication for the most common conditions. Some states require in-person visits to prescribe certain controlled substances. Stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin or benzodiazepines like Xanax require could require an in-person visit. We recommend checking your state’s specific guidelines. There are certain conditions, like schizophrenia or eating disorders, that are best treated with in-person care. As a virtual practice, we’re not able to see patients in-person.
