In patients with anxiety or depression, after 5 visits:
Virtual mental health care is expanding access to treatment. In many cases, online clinicians can prescribe medication for the most common conditions. Some states require in-person visits to prescribe certain controlled substances. Stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin or benzodiazepines like Xanax require could require an in-person visit. We recommend checking your state’s specific guidelines. There are certain conditions, like schizophrenia or eating disorders, that are best treated with in-person care. As a virtual practice, we’re not able to see patients in-person.
Telemedicine is a safe an effective way to manage medication for a variety of conditions. Licensed prescribers (all Talkiatry’s psychiatric clinicians specialize in mediation management) will take an evidence-based and patient-centered approach to your care. That means providing a thorough evaluation and a personalized treatment plan. It also involved regular check-ins to measure your progress, manage any side effects, and make any necessary adjustments to your plan. We’re here to support healing throughout treatment and to focus on effective care with your overall wellness in mind.
Medication can help with a variety of mental health conditions, like anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, and others. Online psychiatry can provide access to trained clinicians who can provide an accurate diagnosis and work with you to create a treatment plan that can include medications that are appropriate for your goals and needs. For most conditions, medication works best when paired with additional support like talk therapy. If therapy is right for you, we can work with an outside therapist or refer you to one of our in-house therapists for additional care.
Psychiatric care (online or in-person) from a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner is covered by insurance just like other specialties. The specifics of your plan (your deductible, copay, and coinsurance) affect your out-of-pocket costs and the best way to understand how much your visits might cost is to reach out to your insurer directly and ask about their coverage for psychiatry services. Talkiatry is in-network with major insurers and Medicare.
Mental healthcare providers have a lot of treatment options at their disposal when personalizing a treatment plan. Because no two patients are alike, no two treatment plans are exactly alike either. We work with you to understand your goals and preferences and tailor a plan that you feel comfortable sticking to.
