What if I start feeling side effects?

Side effects can sound very serious. Starting anything new can make someone apprehensive. But side effects aren’t always scary, and they’re not always permanent.

If you’re starting a new medication, your doctor will talk you through what to expect. With medications, there’s usually a balance between benefits and side effects. It’s always our hope, of course, that the good outweighs the other stuff. But if this isn’t the case, there are other treatment options that you might be able to try.

Always tell your psychiatrist about any side effects you’re experiencing. The more honest you are about them, the more your psychiatrist will be able to help you.
