Talkiatry is seeking a strategic, hands-on Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to lead our growing BI Engineering team. This leader plays a critical role in advancing Talkiatry’s data strategy by guiding the technical direction and delivery of our BI and analytics systems, with a focus on scalable, reliable self-service analytics that support informed decision-making and follow modern analytics engineering best practices. You will manage a team of five BI professionals and partner closely with Engineering, Product, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to ensure data is accessible, actionable, and aligned with our mission of transforming mental health care.
About Talkiatry:
Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.
60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low, and paperwork is unduly burdensome. With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.
You will:
- Lead and mentor a team of 5 BI professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement.
- Build, evolve, and maintain our analytics engineering standards and products including our data model repository and self-service analytics infrastructure to maximize usability and data trust.
- Ensure BI systems follow engineering best practices, including SDLC, version control, CI/CD, and production readiness, and serve as an escalation point for data correctness or reliability issues.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to understand business needs and deliver scalable BI solutions.
- Drive adoption of data tools and insights by championing user enablement and intuitive data experiences.
- Provide hands-on guidance and technical oversight for complex analytical challenges, ensuring data product accuracy, efficiency, and performance.
- Translate complex data and technical concepts into clear, actionable narratives to inform leadership decision-making.
- Guide your team in prioritizing and sizing analytical work for speed and impact, ensuring rigorous scoping of all BI initiatives.
- Promote data governance and best practices to ensure data quality, compliance, and integrity across all outputs.
You have:
- 6+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or a related field, including 3+ years of experience managing BI teams.
- Proven success delivering scalable BI solutions and managing large, complex analytics projects end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining analytics codebases using modern engineering practices (e.g., dbt, version control, CI/CD).
- Deep technical expertise with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI), cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift), and transformation and orchestration tools (e.g., DBT, Airflow).
- Fluency in SQL and data modeling best practices.
- Experience analyzing A/B tests and partnering with product teams to define and measure success.
- Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, technical designs, and strategic recommendations.
- A proactive, systems-thinking mindset with the ability to identify leverage points across business, product, and operations.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
