Dr. Courtney Allen is double board-certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry and specializes in medication management and various psychotherapies to treat anxiety and depressive disorders. Dr. Allen completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College and received her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She completed her adult psychiatry residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
In addition to her interests in anxiety and depressive disorders, Dr. Allen also has a special interest in relationships and has completed a scholarly fellowship that focused on learning from some of the leaders in relationship science such as The Gottman Institute and PREP Inc. During this fellowship, she also served as a relationship coach at Montefiore Medical Center’s Supporting Healthy Relationships Program.
In her role as a psychiatrist, Dr. Allen seeks to create a safe space for her patients to feel supported while healing and figuring out how to lead a life that is fulfilling for them. To achieve this, Dr. Allen focuses on creating a strong therapeutic relationship which in turn helps to develop an effective treatment plan that will aim to address key factors that may be hindering one from their ideal level of emotional well-being.
