Dorothy Hughes is a graduate of Walden University and a Bronx, New York native who has been working with clients from diverse backgrounds and presenting issues, as a licensed therapist in both private and agency settings. She is non-judgmental, open minded, compassionate person and is client center focused.
Dorothy believes in a collaborative, client led therapy, largely utilizing a psychodynamic approach. She has extensive experience working with individuals from a variety of mental health issues including PTSD, children with mental health disorder, depression, substance misuse, anxiety disorders and much more.
Dorothy continued her education to include training in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Her approach begins with meeting a client where they are currently and creating a relationship of trust and alliance to help them achieve their goals and remove barriers in their lives.
