Lindsay Legnon, MD

Dr. Lindsay Legnon is board-certified in Psychiatry and has 15 years of experience in outpatient clinical psychiatry. Her focus is primarily on medication management, but she does incorporate brief cognitive behavioral therapy and supportive therapy when appropriate. If more extensive psychotherapy is felt to be beneficial, she will recommend a therapist and collaborate with them for optimal care. She completed her medical degree at Louisiana State University in Shreveport and her residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she served as Chief Resident. After completing her residency, she worked primarily in outpatient clinics treating a wide range of mental health disorders. She has extensive experience treating major depressive disorder, a variety of anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, among others. Medication is felt to be an important tool for many in achieving wellness, and she encourages a holistic approach to improve outcomes. Nicholas Sahagian, MD

Dr. Nicholas Sahagian is a Psychiatrist in Colorado who has been practicing since 2023. He completed his MD and Adult Psychiatry Residency at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University and earned his BA in Neuroscience at Skidmore College. Amanda Kerr, DO

Dr. Amanda Kerr is a board-certified Psychiatrist. Her practice focuses on medication management, though she passionately believes in a holistic approach. She attended Boston University for her undergraduate studies and Loyola Marymount University for graduate school. She then completed her training at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine for residency, where she was selected to serve as Chief Resident during her final year. After completion of her residency in 2016, she dedicated seven years to serving a wide range of patients in a community mental health setting, both in-person and via telepsychiatry. She also serves as a provider at an Intensive Outpatient Program. She has experience treating patients with depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD. She also has extensive teaching experience in various settings. Dr. Kerr has a gentle and approachable style when providing medication management in conjunction with supportive psychotherapy, and at times Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to more fully address each individual's needs. She utilizes mindfulness approaches as well, which she finds personally meaningful in her practices of meditation and yoga. Akif Khawaja, MD

Akif A. Khawaja M.D. is a Clinical General Psychiatrist. He has worked in this field since graduating and obtaining his residency from the University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Neurology and Behavioral Sciences in 1996. He has worked mostly with adults ranging from 18 to 90 years of age. He has served as a director of Intensive Outpatient Programs in the state of Mississippi. He currently focuses on medical management of patients above 50 years of age and has served as a director of Geriatric Psychiatric Units.

He has a particular interest in treating mood, anxiety, and cognitive disorders, including ADHD. Patients working with him can expect thorough and detailed appointments, as he places special emphasis on gathering comprehensive medical and psychiatric histories, including specific dates of past treatments. During initial visits, he carefully reviews previous medical interventions, particularly procedures such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS).

His approach prioritizes thorough evaluations to ensure accurate diagnoses. He strongly believes that honesty is essential for achieving the best possible treatment outcomes.

Deora Johnson, PMHNP

Staff Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Deora Johnson, PMHNP, is a board-certified adult psychiatric nurse practitioner with 24 years of experience. He is passionate about providing clients with a holistic approach to mental health care, incorporating both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Deora works with adult and senior populations, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions. He collaborates closely with clients to guide them through understanding and selecting the most effective interventions and medication management options for their needs. Supportive therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing are integral components of his medication management sessions.

Deora earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed a nursing practice degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has experience treating patients in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings.

His areas of specialty include the treatment of major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and insomnia. His research focused on non-pharmacologic interventions for insomnia in individuals with depression.

Deora also has experience working with military veterans. At the VA Outpatient Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland, he treated veterans returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as those from the Vietnam and Korean War eras. His clinical work focused on PTSD, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorder.

Juan Gonzalez, MD

Dr. Juan Carlos Gonzalez is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has 32 years of experience in treating adults. He completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University and earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident and subsquently was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry for ten years. During his tenure as a faculty member at Baylor, he served as Medical Director for the Baylor Psychiatry Clinic and also maintained a private practice, where he provided psychotherapy and medication management. 

In 2004, Dr. Gonzalez moved to Austin, Texas where he joined the US Veterans Administration, serving in various administrative positions, including Medical Director for the Central Texas VA Outpatient Clinics.

He provides compassionate, evidence-based care to thousands of service members, treating a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Gonzalez employs a humanistic approach to patient care, deeply understanding how patients’ past experiences affect their present.

Richard Mullin, MD

Dr. Richard Mullin brings over a decade of experience in outpatient psychiatric care, with prior roles providing treatment to juveniles in detention and adults in jail and prison systems across West Virginia. He completed his medical degree at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University and trained in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at West Virginia University. Dr. Mullin emphasizes the importance of truly listening, so patients feel seen and heard.

Dr. Mullin works collaboratively with his patients to identify their main concerns and to build a treatment plan that feels right for them. He believes treatment should be a shared process in which the patient is empowered and supported in their mental health journey.

Taking a "less is more" approach to medication, Dr. Mullin focuses on minimizing prescriptions while still addressing all of a patient’s needs. His goal is to help patients eventually rely more on therapeutic skills than medication. He views treatment as a partnership—balancing his expertise in psychiatry with each patient's lived experience.
