Dr. Lourdes J Chahin is a bilingual (Spanish) Child, Adolescent and Adult psychiatrist. She completed her adult residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, and her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has over 20 years of experience helping children, adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, phobias, bipolar mood disorder and many other psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Chahin has practiced in various settings over her career: outpatient private practice, community mental health, Nurse Practitioners and medical student supervision, partial hospitalization and dual diagnosis rehabilitation programs. She is licensed in the states of New York, Florida and Georgia.
She also volunteers at the largest free clinic in Florida, helping uninsured children, teenagers and families who cannot otherwise afford mental health care. She enjoys writing medical poetry, and her poems have been published in the AACAP journal.
Dr. Chahin is very passionate about what she does and she loves making a difference in people’s lives. It is her philosophy to consider patients and their families as unique, taking the time to listen carefully to all of their concerns, building trust gradually and offering medications only when absolutely necessary. In addition to psychopharmacology, she uses psycho education, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, supportive and mindfulness-based therapies.
