Rana Kaleemullah, MD

Dr. Kaleemullah is originally from New Orleans and went to Loyola University of New Orleans where she obtained her degree in Chemistry with summa cum laude distinction. She then went to Tulane School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at Tulane Behavioral Health in New Orleans.

Having been affected personally by Hurricane Katrina and the loss of a loved one in 2005, she quickly understood the importance of biopsychosocial impacts on health, especially mental health. She is very keen on establishing rapport with her patients and ensuring that their feelings are validated.

After completing her residency, she moved to Toronto and worked at Grey Bruce Health Services where she did a combination of ER psychiatry, inpatient, and outpatient services. After having kids, she then became more interested in telepsychiatry in 2017, which increased accessibility to care for her patients.

Dr. Kaleemullah has interest in psychopharmacology, but also believes in psychoeducation and supportive counseling. If she feels more interventions are needed, she may refer to counselors with expertise in other modalities such as CBT, DBT, and trauma.

Dr. Kaleemullah enjoys spending time with family and meditation when she’s not working. She is fluent in English and Urdu/Hindi.
