Biography
Most of my work as a psychiatrist is with adults navigating bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD, along with anxiety and depression that can layer on top of them. My path into this field runs through teaching and research: I trained at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, completed my psychiatry residency at UTHealth in Houston, and later stayed on as an Assistant Clinical Professor, where I built courses in cultural psychiatry and ran psychiatry boot camps for medical students. That interest in culture and context still shapes how I practice, and I especially connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and with people in the LGBTQ+ community. I speak both English and Arabic in my sessions.
I tend to be analytical and curious, and I ask a lot of questions early on because I want to understand the whole picture before we settle on a direction. Medication management is often part of what I do, but I pair it with supportive therapy and cognitive-behavioral techniques rather than leaning on any single tool. In a first visit, expect a calm, thorough conversation where we sort out what's actually going on and where you have real say in what comes next. I try to keep the pace steady and the choices yours.
There's no rush to have everything figured out before we begin. Reach out when the timing feels right for you, and we'll take it from there.
