Get to know

Suzanne Doubrava, MD

Dr. Suzanne Doubrava is double-board certified in Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, a branch of medicine which explores the connection between the physical body and emotional health.  She has been practicing for over 15 years after completing psychiatry residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Doubrava then received additional fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center.  She has held academic appointments at both Rutgers Medical School and Fox Chase Cancer Center, as well cultivating a private practice for 10 years in Princeton, New Jersey.

Dr. Doubrava believes that achieving emotional wellness extends beyond addressing one’s symptoms and hopes to guide her patients toward feeling more aware, empowered, and in touch with their authentic selves.  She recognizes that true healing occurs when all aspects of a person’s being are nurtured and aligned.  Drawing upon her extensive training in psychiatry, along with a deep appreciation of the mind-body-spirit connection, Dr. Doubrava integrates traditional therapeutic techniques including the use of medications when necessary, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and supportive psychotherapies, along with holistic mind-body techniques, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and psycho-spiritual aspects of care.  On some occasions, Dr. Doubrava may believe that additional therapy is needed and ask to incorporate a therapist into your care team for the best outcome.

Dr. Doubrava approaches each patient as a unique individual and works with them in a process of discovery.  She has a genuine interest and experience working with people during life transitions, those who experience anxiety, depression, and traumatic stress reactions, as well as those living with medical issues, particularly cancer.  At the heart of her practice is creating a warm, empathic, nonjudgmental space, allowing for connection and vulnerability, and a collaboration with her patients to help them achieve their goals, both in treatment and in life.
