We are looking for the position of In-house counsel who will report to the Chief of Compliance and Legal Department. This individual will provide legal advice, support, and oversight on a variety of healthcare-related matters, including general business operations and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The position will particularly focus on contract preparation, negotiation, and review in areas such as managed care, procurement of services, and employment. The role will at times involve at times advising on the full range of corporate law and includes developing the contract management system with playbooks to introduce automation and visibility to reduce risk in this area.
The preferred candidate should possess at least three years of healthcare experience in laws related to data privacy, data security, Anti-Kickback, Self-Referral, Controlled Substances, as well as telemedicine laws. A working knowledge of FDA regulations would be advantageous.

You will:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor service agreements, physician contracts, and managed care agreements.
- Ensure contractual terms align with applicable healthcare laws and are fair and equitable towards the Practice.
- Research and monitoring for changes in federal and state healthcare laws and regulations that impact the Practice including state telemedicine laws.
- Support external counsel and manage litigation, investigations, and discovery obligations involving the organization.
- Review and respond to subpoenas, civil complaints, and other legal inquiries.
- Provide guidance including former training to both clinical and corporate staff on relevant legal and regulatory topics involving healthcare-related laws.
- Collaborate with management to identify and mitigate legal risks in the ever-changing field of healthcare and data privacy.
- Advise clinicians on mitigation techniques of adverse licensure actions, malpractice actions and government regulatory actions.
- Coordinate and assist external counsel on litigation matters.
- Support Human Resources and Credentialing Department on investigations.
- Evaluate terminations and associated correspondence for legal exposure.
- Apply business deal-making and negotiation acumen with external vendors and payors.
You have:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Five years of legal experience with at least three of those years of experience in healthcare.
- Knowledge of healthcare laws and the regulatory framework to support a rapidly expanding digital telehealth medical practice.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with telehealth laws and Food Drug and Cosmetic Act involving medical devices.
- Previous experience with digital health company.
Compensation range for this position is $175,000 to $200,000, and up to a 15% performance bonus, depending on experience; actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, location, as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
