We're seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to join our New Patient Experience team at Talkiatry. This team is responsible for the critical journey that guides patients from their first interaction with our platform through to their first S2V L1 Eng Job Req 1 appointment with a provider. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, fast-moving group that values thoughtful design, user-centric features, and quality execution. As an engineer on this team, you'll build and maintain features across the full stack—helping patients easily understand, access, and navigate mental health care with empathy and clarity.
About Talkiatry:
Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment.
60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low, and paperwork is unduly burdensome. With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need—and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.
You will:
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to
- Develop and ship new patient-facing features from start to finish.
- Build clean, maintainable, and scalable fullstack TypeScript code using React and Next.js.
- Work across the stack, from crafting intuitive frontend interactions to designing performant backend services and APIs.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and support safe releases.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
- Help monitor, debug, and improve application performance and error handling in production.
- Engage in team rituals like sprint planning, retrospectives, and design reviews.
- Learn from and contribute to a supportive team culture focused on mentorship, continuous improvement, and patient impact.
You have:
- Familiarity with TypeScript or JavaScript, with exposure to modern web development frameworks such as React and Next.js.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals.
- Interest or experience in building fullstack applications, especially in a cloud based environment (AWS experience is a plus).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow as part of a mission-driven team.
Why Talkiatry:
- Top-notch team: Join a diverse, motivated group committed to reshaping mental health care.
