Akili’s approach is centered around the individual. His goal is to help people embrace their authentic self. He believes that counseling and the therapeutic process is experiential. He has been through most of the life struggles we all have been through. Akili has also written several books - the latest of which, “Be an Anomaly”, is about the autism spectrum. Beyond his passion for helping others, Akili is passionate about his family, drawing, music, and basketball.

Brenda Camacho, MD

Dr. Brenda Y. Camacho holds the position of Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry. She is board-certified in Adult Psychiatry. She has been practicing for over 25 years. While having treated a wide range of adult patients, Dr. Camacho's primary focus is treating adult outpatients with mood or psychotic disorders. Her practice focuses on medication management. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive or insight-oriented therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. On occasion, Dr. Camacho will believe additional therapy is also needed and asks that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. Dr. Camacho completed her undergraduate studies at Tufts University. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and then continued with Temple for her residency in adult psychiatry. Alicia Batson, MD

Dr. Batson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 20 years. At the heart of Dr. Batson's approach to clinical care is a deep understanding, both professionally and personally, of the effects of trauma and stress on our brains, our bodies and our lived experience. She helps every patient understand the events that have led them to where they are and to find the path to recovery for strength and healing. While Dr. Batson's professional career has spanned the breadth of mental health care, she specializes in helping patients who suffer from the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviors, phobias and depressive disorders. Many of these patients also suffer from debilitating physical conditions such as chronic pain, muscle tension, headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms and other physical manifestations of a chronically activated stress response. Dr. Batson's experience has taught her that these conditions can be treated, and even cured, with a tailored approach of psychopharmacology and mind-body psychotherapeutic approaches to healing. Dr. Batson received a bachelor's degree in European Studies from Vanderbilt University, a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center and completed a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is board-certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her clinical experience treating patients spans the breadth of mental health care delivery, including community mental health care of severe and persistent mental illness, consult-liaison psychiatry, inpatient care on combined medical and psychiatric hospital units and telehealth psychiatry. While working towards her goal to become a licensed Therapist, Myleka completed 3000 supervised clinical hours. Myleka has been a part of the Mental Health field since 2016. Myleka has worked in school settings (elementary, high school, and college) and in a primary care physician's office as an on-site mental health therapist. Jacob Kannarkat , MD

Dr. Alexandra Hamlyn is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. She completed her medical education at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and then completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. She then went on to complete her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at NYU Langone and Bellevue Hospital. During this time, she also taught a course titled Love Actually at NYU School of Arts and Science. During training, Dr. Hamlyn gained extensive clinical experience in psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, allowing her the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds in numerous busy hospitals in New York City. Dr. Hamlyn's primary focus is on medication management, though she also has experience working in four different outpatient clinics where she has gained expertise in multiple different therapy modalities. If appropriate, Dr. Hamlyn will refer you for psychotherapy and collaborate with your therapist to support your care.
