Biography
As a licensed mental health counselor with about a decade in this field, I work mostly with adolescents, adults, and older adults sorting through trauma, anxiety, and depression, and often the harder-to-name things that come with them. A lot of what I do centers on how people see themselves. Self-image and self-esteem come up in nearly every room I sit in, whether the person in front of me is 15 or 70. I also spend a good deal of time on relationships, including marriage and family strain, dating violence, and the ways culture shapes what we're allowed to say out loud.
My background started in substance use work, first as a counselor and later running a clinical program, so addictive behavior (with substances or with gambling) is familiar territory rather than something I refer out. That history taught me to be steady and honest without rushing you. I ask questions, I check my assumptions against what you actually mean, and I don't pretend to have you figured out in the first hour. Early sessions are mostly me getting the full picture, your history, your relationships, and what's pulling at you now, before we decide together where to put our attention.
I keep the pace realistic and I'll tell you plainly what I'm noticing. If any of this fits what you've been looking for, I'd be happy to talk.
