Biography
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist known for making my patients feel seen and heard. I use both medication management and supportive psychotherapy, and as a seasoned psychopharmacologist, I emphasize the importance of nutrition, exercise, and community in mental health. I enjoy all aspects of medicine and combine my extensive knowledge with a patient-centered approach.
I completed my medical school and residency at the University of New Mexico, where I later served as a psychiatrist and assistant professor, treating high-need patients and teaching residents and medical students. During the pandemic, I transitioned to telehealth and have been dedicated to this field for the past four years. My academic journey began as a physics major at UNM; I then studied biophysics at the University of San Diego, California. During my postdoctoral fellowship at Los Alamos National Laboratories, I was inspired by presentations about professionals working with patients in African countries, which sparked my interest in medicine.
During that time, my father died of cancer, and I witnessed the impact of mental health therapy on his quality of life, further solidifying my motivation to attend medical school. Witnessing the profound impact of mental health on my patients and family, I specialized in psychiatry.
