Dr. Mustafa Taquee is a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, he completed his medical degree at Oakland University William Beaumont in Rochester, MI. He is a graduate of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI. As a testament to Dr. Taquee's desire to help patients reach their full potential, he has also completed a psychotherapy fellowship through the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Taquee believes that every patient brings their own mosaic of experiences embedded in a unique story. He understands that building a strong therapeutic relationship through empathy, compassion, trust, and respect is essential. He enjoys taking time to understand his patient's goals, offer psychoeducation, and create a collaborative plan for treatment with the patient. He believes in a holistic approach to mental health treatment, which includes medication management, supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, as well as mind-body medicine techniques. He also has a special interest in psychodynamic therapy, an in-depth therapy modality, which he incorporates in all patient interactions and sessions. She received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Florida International University in Miami, FL, and stayed to complete medical school at their Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. As a South Florida native, she is fluent in English and Spanish and has experience in treating individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Dr. Edgar provides psychiatric care to adults ages 18 and older and is trained in the treatment of several psychiatric conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, OCD and substance use disorders. She believes in a patient-centered approach and working collaboratively with individuals to create a holistic treatment plan that is in alignment with their values and preferences. Treatment will include a combination of medication management, psychoeducation and therapy. She will provide supportive therapy and utilize elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy when applicable. She may offer therapy rooted in mindfulness and the mind-body connection, stemming from her personal yoga practice. Treatment might also involve guidance in implementing life-style changes such as exercise, nutrition, and sleep hygiene. Dr. Nina Jacobs is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry with over 20 years of clinical experience. She earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry training at NYU School of Medicine. Additionally, she has specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy from the New York Psychoanalytic Institute. Before joining Talkiatry, she served as Chief of Adult Behavioral Health at a busy urban community health clinic.

Devon Beal, PMHNP

Devon Beal, PMHNP received her master's in nursing degree from Yale School of Nursing with a concentration in Adult Psychiatry.  She is board certified by ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and an Adult Nurse Practitioner.  She has worked in Psychiatric Urgent Care in San Francisco, Inpatient Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Outpatient and detox care in Fall River, MA, Boston VA Methadone Clinic, Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Service and most recently at Day Treatment programming in Central MA.  This breadth of experience across the psychiatric - addiction continuum of care helps to assess accurate symptom acuteness and provide effective medication strategies.  She has experience with Depression, Anxiety disorders, Bipolar Disorders, PTSD, Psychotic disorders and Personality Disorders.

A new client interview will consist of a 45-55 minute interview where the reason for entering treatment, current symptoms, psychiatric history, medication history, and a social history will be assessed. Provisional diagnoses or existing diagnoses will be discussed, along with client goals for treatment. There will be an opportunity for medication initiation or changes if mutually agreed upon.  Devon's goals in providing care is to make the client comfortable, to offer accurate symptom assessment and diagnostic clarity, and to provide medication management strategies for symptom and functional improvement.  Follow-up appointments will typically be 30 minutes with a portion dedicated to medication management and a portion to supportive psychotherapy.

Dr. Chuck Stanfa is a board-certified psychiatrist who genuinely enjoys helping people.  He has practiced in a wide range of settings, including both outpatient and inpatient during the past 10 years.  He studied medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  He completed his psychiatry residency training at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.  He went on to complete a Community Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and has continued to serve the greater Philadelphia area.  

Dr. Stanfa tries to take a person-centered approach to psychiatry.  He spends time getting to know each person and is easy to talk to.  He takes a collaborative approach to medication management and provides supportive therapy.  He believes that the relationship is one of the most important aspects of treatment.  He is open to working with most diagnoses including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and others.  He will work with each person to develop a treatment plan that works for them.

Gira Borad, MD

Dr. Borad is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and has specialized in Addiction Psychiatry. She finished her residency at the WVU campus of Charleston, WV, and finished the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at UPMC/Western Psychiatry Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. She has previously worked as an Assistant Professor at WVU of Charleston, where she was involved in working with residents in inpatient and outpatient settings, provided psychiatric consult services to hospitalized patients, and was part of the Outpatient Comprehensive Opioid treatment program where she provided Medication Assisted Treatment for patients with substance use disorders. She has an interest in treating patients with mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. Dr. Borad has a special interest in treating individuals having a substance use history and struggling to quit, and has expertise in treating patients with a dual diagnosis of substance use with other psychiatric conditions. She primarily does medication management, in addition to providing some supportive therapy and motivational interviewing to her patients in her 30-minute follow-up appointments. In addition, she may suggest bringing in a therapist to add to your care if clinically necessary.
