Biography

I'm a psychiatrist, and I treat adults through every stage of life, from young adults sorting out a first diagnosis to older patients navigating the mental health questions that come with aging. Much of my attention goes to bipolar disorder, OCD, geriatric psychiatry, and ADHD, and I've spent more than 25 years across a range of settings learning how differently these conditions show up from one person to the next.

I tend to approach this work with curiosity rather than a fixed script. I'll ask a lot of questions early on, and I listen closely to what you tell me, because the details of how something actually affects your day usually matter more than the label attached to it. Over the years I've trained in several forms of psychotherapy, including psychodynamic work, CBT, DBT, and ACT, and I draw on medication when it genuinely fits the picture, not as a shortcut around the harder conversations. Expect a first session that moves at an unhurried pace: I'd rather understand you well than rush to conclusions, and I'll be honest with you about what I'm thinking and why.

Collaboration matters to me. I want you weighing in on the plan, telling me what's working and what isn't, so we can adjust as we go.

Deciding to look for help takes something, and if you've made it to this point, you've already done part of the work. When you're ready, I'll be here to pick it up with you.

He has ample experience managing complex cases, and is adept with advanced medication approaches for patients with refractory symptoms. He also has expertise supporting patients who are taking a closer look at their relationship with alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, or compulsive behaviors such as gambling or pornography use.

Dr. Guajardo uses the initial appointment as an opportunity to understand his patient’s background thoroughly and define treatment goals. He aims to thoughtfully interweave medication management and psychotherapy at every visit.

Most of my work as a psychiatrist is with adults living with the after-effects of trauma and PTSD, along with anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and mood disorders that have made day-to-day life harder to steady. Before I came to outpatient practice, I served as a psychiatrist in the United States Navy and later cared for patients as a civilian on an Army base, in inpatient units, and at a state-run mental health clinic. That range shaped how I listen. I feel a particular affinity with veterans and military families, with LGBTQIA+ patients, and with people whose minds are wired a little differently, and I try to bring an open, unhurried attention to whoever is in front of me.

I think of treatment as a partnership, so honesty and clear communication matter to me. I want you to understand the reasoning behind any recommendation, because informed patients make better decisions about their own care. Our first session is mostly about your history and what brought you in; by the second, we sketch out the goals worth aiming for. From there we build an individualized plan and adjust it as your life and needs change. Medication may be part of that, but it's one piece of a fuller picture, never the whole answer.

There's no rush to any of this. Reach out when the timing feels right for you, and we'll begin from there.

Most of my work as a therapist, over the last twenty years, is with individuals, couples, and families dealing with trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and the kind of stress that comes with demanding work or college life. I'm bilingual, so I see clients in both English and Spanish, and I work with people across the age range, from teenagers to older adults. A lot of my earlier career was spent in places most people don't associate with therapy: skilled nursing and Alzheimer's care, a rehabilitation hospital, crisis response alongside police, and community mental health serving people who often go underserved. That history taught me to look at the whole picture, not just the symptom.

I work in a collaborative, systems-oriented way, which means I pay attention to the personal, cultural, and environmental factors shaping what you're going through. Early on, we do a thorough assessment and set clear goals, then check in on progress regularly using tools like the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 so we can actually see what's moving. Sessions tend to blend practical skill-building with mind-body techniques, things like paced breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, drawing on CBT, EFT, IFS, and attachment work depending on what fits. I value measurable progress, and I'll be honest with you about it.

The first step is just a conversation about what brought you here; from there, we build the plan together and adjust as we go.

My work as a therapist centers on substance use disorders and the conditions that often travel alongside them: OCD, anxiety, and major depression. Over more than 23 years across outpatient, inpatient, and telehealth settings, I've spent a lot of time with people who are ready to change something but want more than encouragement. They want practical tools and a clear sense of whether those tools are actually working.

I tend to be structured. I start with a thorough assessment so we can name your goals plainly and build a treatment plan that fits them, then we track progress as we go rather than guessing at it. Much of what I do draws on evidence-based approaches like CBT, ERP for OCD, HRT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapies, and I'll often ask you to practice specific skills between sessions. Expect accountability from me; expect me to name what I'm seeing honestly, and to adjust when something isn't landing. When it helps, I coordinate with the other people involved in your care.

A typical session is focused work. We check in on what you tried since we last met, sort out what got in the way, and decide what to aim at next. I'm compassionate about the difficulty of that and direct about the effort it takes.

If this fits what you're after, I'm happy to talk.

I'm a psychiatrist with experience treating adults who are navigating ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, postpartum depression, and thoughts of self-harm. I've practiced psychiatry in both Pakistan and the United States, and that background has shaped how I think about mental health: culture, biology, psychology, and circumstance all sit in the same room together, and I try to account for each of them when I get to know someone.

My focus is on medication management, but I don't treat it as the whole picture. Depending on what someone needs, I'll draw on supportive therapy, CBT, DBT, or motivational interviewing, and I keep the plan built around the person in front of me rather than a formula. Our first session is largely about me understanding your background, your concerns, and what you're actually hoping to change. I value open communication and I want you to leave each visit knowing why we're making the choices we're making. Treatment decisions are ones we reach together, not ones I hand down.

What I care about most is that you feel informed and genuinely part of your own care, so you can build insight and coping strategies that hold up over time. I also see patients in Urdu and Hindi, which for some people makes it easier to speak plainly.

There's no rush to any of this. When you feel ready to begin, I'll be here.

I'm a licensed professional counselor with a particular focus on grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and substance use and recovery, drawn from more than ten years of work across outpatient, community-based, and addiction residential treatment settings. A lot of what I see comes down to change that hasn't happened cleanly: a loss that reshaped everything, a life transition that hasn't settled, a relationship straining under chronic stress, or a recovery that needs steady support rather than judgment. Those are the people I do my best work with.

I'm integrative, client-centered, and trauma-informed, and I care about open communication as much as I care about the plan we build. I lean empathetic but goal-oriented; I'll want to understand your history, your current concerns, your strengths, and what actually matters to you before we set anything in motion. Early on, we get clear on where things stand, then shape treatment goals that fit your values, your recovery needs, and the realities of your life. Sessions stay flexible, with regular check-ins so we can see what's working and adjust when it isn't.

Much of this comes back to helping people rebuild self-compassion, confidence, and healthier boundaries, sustainably, not overnight. I also supervise LPC-Associates, which keeps me thinking carefully about how good care is done.

If grief, stress, or the long work of recovery has left you feeling stuck, I'm here and ready to start that conversation with you.

I've spent years as a psychiatrist treating adults who are managing the harder-to-pin-down conditions: bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, and substance use, alongside anxiety and depression. My training took me through both outpatient and inpatient settings, and I've worked with interventional treatments like ECT and TMS, so I've seen what people look like across the full range of what psychiatry can offer.

I start by listening to your whole story: where you've been, where you are now, and where you want to go. I want to understand you as a person, not a chart. From there, I lean on evidence-based medicine to shape a plan, but I'm equally invested in your autonomy. My job is partly to give you the knowledge you need to make informed decisions about your own care, and then to make those decisions together. A first appointment with me tends to be more conversation than checklist; I'll ask questions, explain my reasoning honestly, and check that we're building something you actually agree with.

I care a lot about the working relationship itself. If you don't trust the plan, it won't hold, so I try to be transparent about what I'm thinking and why. I also see patients in Korean when that makes the conversation feel more natural.

If that fits what you're looking for, I'd be happy to talk.

I'm a psychiatrist who focuses on bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and personality disorders, along with the anxiety and depression that so often travel alongside them. Much of my career has moved across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings, including many years within the John Peter Smith Healthcare System, work in federal correctional psychiatry, and outpatient care through Tarrant County MHMR. I've also spent a good deal of that time teaching, working with medical students and psychiatry residents and staying active in organized psychiatry through the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. I especially connect with the concerns parents and caregivers bring into the room, including those navigating postpartum depression, and with older adults sorting through the psychiatric questions that arrive later in life.

I start by building a thorough picture of your psychiatric, medical, family, developmental, and substance use history, and then I ask about what actually brought you in and what you're hoping to change. From there, we shape a plan together rather than my handing one down. Your input matters to me at every step, and I want you to feel heard, respected, and genuinely part of the decisions being made about your care. When medication has a role, it's one piece of a fuller plan, not the whole answer.

Reaching out to a psychiatrist takes some resolve. If you've gotten this far, you've already done part of the hard work, and I'm glad to continue it with you.

I'm a therapist, and I've spent 13 years working with teens, adults, and couples through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the kinds of life transitions that leave people unsure of their footing. A lot of the people I see are sorting through questions about identity or relationships, and I especially connect with LGBTQ+ clients who want a place where that part of their life doesn't have to be explained or defended.

My style is active and collaborative. I'm not going to sit quietly and nod for an hour. I start by getting a clear picture of your goals, your challenges, and the strengths you're already bringing, and from there we build a straightforward plan that fits you rather than a template. Sessions tend to focus on practical growth, building insight, strengthening coping skills, and actually tracking whether things are moving. I lean on evidence-based approaches, but I care most that you walk out with something you can use before our next conversation. When it helps, I'll bring families or caregivers into the picture, and with couples I focus on communication and the friction points that keep resurfacing.

I think therapy should feel empowering and approachable, not like homework you dread. Open communication and emotional safety matter to me, and I try to keep things honest without ever making it feel like judgment.

If you're ready to stop white-knuckling through it and want a partner in the practical work, reach out and let's talk.

I've spent years as a therapist treating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, and the disorienting stretches that come with major life transitions. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and California, and I'm certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which shapes a lot of how I work. I see individuals, couples, and families ages 12 and up, and I've spent a good deal of that time with people whose lives don't fit a tidy template: LGBTQ+ clients, people in non-traditional or complex relationships, and those managing mood disorders, caregiver stress, or concerns around intimacy.

I think everyone arrives with a story that's genuinely their own, so I don't hand out a one-size-fits-all plan. I lean on thoughtful questions more than pronouncements, the kind that help you surface your own insight, your strengths, and solutions that actually mean something to you. In a first session, I'll ask what brought you in and let you tell it at whatever pace feels right; from there we start naming goals and sketching a roadmap that belongs to you. My work draws on CBT and DBT alongside trauma-informed care and mindfulness, but the through line is a partnership built on open, respectful conversation.

Deciding to start therapy takes something. If you've gotten this far into reading about me, you've already done part of the hard work, and I'd be glad to take the next part on with you.

I'm a psychiatrist, and I treat OCD, PTSD and trauma, ADHD, and substance use disorders, along with the anxiety and depression that so often travel alongside them. I've worked in both academic and community settings, and I've found that the most useful thing I can do early on is listen closely for the deeper patterns that shape someone's emotional life, and the meaning that sits beneath the symptoms rather than just the symptoms themselves.

Care starts with a thorough evaluation. I'll ask about your symptoms, your personal and family history, the patterns in how you tend to respond to things, and the specific changes you're hoping to make in your life. From there we build a plan together, one that tends to include supportive psychotherapy, thoughtful medication management where it fits, and steady follow-up. I lean analytical and genuinely curious, and I'll be transparent with you about my thinking so decisions stay shared. I'll say plainly that my practice does not include prescribing benzodiazepines like Xanax, Ativan, or Klonopin; I focus instead on evidence-based approaches that support lasting stability and greater self-understanding. I try to keep the work grounded in your strengths, your goals, and a real sense that things can move forward.

If you're ready to understand what's driving the anxiety, the intrusive thoughts, or the old wounds, and to do that work at a pace that respects the complexity of your life, I'm here and glad to start that conversation with you.

I've spent years as a psychiatrist treating PTSD, trauma, and the anxiety and depression that so often travel with it, along with postpartum mood changes, bipolar disorder, OCD, and ADHD. Much of my early work was in community mental health and military settings, caring for active-duty service members, their families, and veterans, and that experience shaped how I listen: closely, and without assuming I already know your story. I especially connect with LGBTQIA+ patients and with parents and caregivers who are trying to hold their own care and everyone else's at the same time.

What matters most to me is that you feel heard and genuinely respected, and that the decisions we make are yours as much as mine. I value open communication and privacy, and I'll tell you plainly what I'm thinking rather than leaving you to guess. A first appointment is mostly me getting to know your history, your concerns, and what you actually want to be different; from there we build a plan that fits your goals, adjusting as we go. Medication may be part of that, but it's one tool among several, never the whole conversation.

Reaching out for the first time takes real nerve, and reading this far means you've already started. When you're ready to talk, I'll be here to take the next step with you.

Most of my work as a psychiatrist is with adults managing depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma, and ADHD. Over more than thirty years I've cared for people in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings, and I'm double-boarded in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. That range has taught me to look closely and think carefully before I reach for conclusions, because the same set of symptoms rarely means the same thing in two different people.

I try to be transparent about what I'm noticing and why, so that decisions about treatment are ones we're making together rather than ones I'm handing down. I listen more than I talk in the beginning, and I ask a lot of questions, because I want to understand your history and your goals before we settle on a direction. When it fits, I draw on cognitive, behavioral, and supportive therapy alongside thoughtful medication management, but the plan is built around what you're actually trying to get back to, not a formula.

My aim is steady, individualized care that supports resilience over the long run, not just relief in the moment. I'll be honest with you about what I think will help and what I'm still uncertain about, and I'll want your read on it too.

If that approach sounds like a fit, I'd be happy to talk.

I'm a therapist who has spent years treating children, teens, and adults across schools, nonprofits, and social service settings. Much of my background comes from nine years as a school mental health counselor, where I built and ran individual and group programs for students of every age, alongside evaluation and counseling work with young people from ages 4 through 25. That range means I've sat with kids just starting to name what they feel and with adults sorting through much older patterns, and I meet each one at their actual developmental stage rather than a textbook version of it.

I lean on open communication and I'd rather set goals that are meaningful and genuinely achievable than impressive on paper. Early on, I take time for a full assessment of your history, your strengths, and what's actually getting in the way, then we shape a plan around what you want to move toward. My work draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT, and in session that tends to look practical: working on emotional regulation, building concrete coping skills, and shifting the way you talk to yourself. I care as much about what you understand about yourself as what techniques you leave with.

If you or your child have been struggling to feel steady and want someone to work through it with, honestly and at a workable pace, I'd be glad to start that conversation.

I'm a therapist, and most of what I see is depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment struggles, and mood conditions like bipolar and schizoaffective disorder. I've worked in inpatient, outpatient, and virtual settings, with adolescents, adults, and older adults, and I've found that people arrive at very different points, some in crisis, some just tired of managing on their own. I offer individual, family, and couples work, and I've spent a lot of time helping people build emotional resilience, sharpen self-awareness, and strengthen the coping skills that carry them through hard stretches.

Honesty and trust matter a great deal to me, and I tend to be direct and goal-oriented rather than vague. Early on, I want to understand your background, what you're hoping for, and what you want out of therapy, so we can build a plan that actually fits your life and not a generic template. That plan usually includes realistic short-term and long-term goals, and we adjust as things shift. I'll be honest with you, and I'll expect that we can talk openly, with real mutual respect between us.

My training runs through Mississippi, where I completed my supervision hours at Mississippi State Hospital before becoming licensed in both Mississippi and Oklahoma.

If you've been quietly holding it together and want a straight-talking partner in the work, reach out and let's figure out where to start.

I trained as a therapist, and I mostly work with children and teens, roughly ages 4 through 19, along with the caregivers walking beside them. Much of my background comes from settings where kids don't always land easily in a therapy chair: juvenile detention, PK through 12 schools, and homeless outreach. That range taught me to meet a young person wherever they actually are, and to take the adults in their life seriously as part of the picture.

I know how much stigma still surrounds asking for help, so I try to treat reaching out for what it really is, an act of resilience. I like to start slow, building rapport and getting a genuine sense of your history, your worries, and what you're hoping for before we map out anything. With younger clients especially, that first meeting often looks less like formal talk and more like play, art, or creative expression, whatever helps someone feel like themselves. I'll also fold in nutrition-focused psychoeducation when it fits, and I'm finishing my full EMDR training alongside my ADHD certification. Autonomy matters to me; I want the plan we make to reflect your priorities, not mine. And when progress happens, I genuinely celebrate it with you.

One more thing you should know: my dog Odin is training toward his Therapy Dog certification, so I bring that same patient, steady spirit into the room. If any of this feels right for you or your child, let's start with a conversation and build from there.

I've spent years as a therapist, licensed since 2009, working with adults and older adults who want to understand the patterns they keep running into, not just manage the symptoms on the surface. A lot of my work touches relationships, intimacy, and trauma, and I'm certified in sex therapy through the Sexual Health Alliance. My practice is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, sex-positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I mean that as a starting condition, not a slogan.

I value honesty, collaboration, and open communication, so early on I'll ask about your story, your history, and what you actually want to be different. From there we build an individualized plan and adjust it as we go, drawing on approaches like CBT, ACT, and narrative therapy alongside relational and mindfulness work. Sessions tend to move between the 'why' behind a pattern and the practical tools you can use once you leave the room. Expect insight, some real-world strategy, and steady emotional support, whether we're working on emotional awareness, healthier boundaries, or a little more self-compassion.

I don't measure progress only by fewer symptoms. I watch for steadier emotions, more self-awareness, and growing confidence in how you handle what life sends your way.

Deciding to talk to someone takes something. If you've gotten this far, you've already done part of the hard work, and I'm here when you're ready to keep going.

I'm a psychiatrist, and I treat adults living with bipolar disorder, ADHD, and OCD, along with anxiety and depression. Before I settled into practice in the United States, I trained at Cardiff University in Wales and worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings across the UK and Australia. I completed my psychiatry residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the University of Colorado, and I've also come to enjoy the careful, patient work that comes with caring for older adults.

I'd describe my approach as calm, thorough, and open-minded. I tend to think analytically, so early on I'll spend real time understanding your history and what you're actually hoping to change, rather than rushing to a label. In a first session, I listen closely to your concerns, ask about where things started, and then walk you through a clear assessment and my reasoning before we decide anything together. I draw on psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and ACT depending on what fits, and when medication is part of the picture, I'll explain how it sits within the larger plan.

I don't make decisions for people; I share what I'm seeing and we work out the next step as a pair. I value open communication and a steady pace, and I'd rather be honest and clear than quick.

The first step is simply a conversation, and we build the plan from there.
