Richard Hess, MD

Dr. Hess is double board-certified in Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. He completed his psychiatry internship and residency training at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, and then completed a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Hess has practiced inpatient psychiatry at the Long Island College Hospital, NYU Langone Brooklyn, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. He has also worked in emergency rooms, day hospitals, and consultation-liaison settings, as well as seeing geriatric outpatients at a naturally-occurring retirement community (NORC) on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Dr. Hess has taught St. George's University medical students during their clinical rotations in psychiatry. Dr. Hess has more than 24 years of experience providing patients with compassionate psychiatric care for depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and dementia. He uses pharmacotherapy as well as supportive psychotherapy. Dr. Hess may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. Alexandra Held, MD

Dr. Alexandra Held is a general psychiatrist who holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She completed her psychiatry training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD. She is passionate about incorporating psychotherapeutic tools into her practice, including supportive psychotherapy.

Dr. Held takes a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental approach to care. Her goal is to create a safe and supportive space where patients feel heard and empowered to take an active role in their treatment, using a combination of supportive psychotherapy and medication management.

Kevin Seske, LCPC

Kevin Seske is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in Sport and Health Psychology. His approach to therapy is collaborative, empowering, nonjudgmental, trauma informed, and goal-focused. He sees therapy as a method to find the individual's strengths to help overcome any hardships.‍Kevin integrates treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Existential Therapy, and mindfulness techniques. In addition, he incorporates Sports Psychology in sessions where appropriate as he believes physical activity can empower us and teach us life skills that boost self-esteem, promote team building, and aid in relaxation. These methods are proven to show reduction in anxiety and depression.‍Kevin specializes in treating PTSD among young adults, adults, and/or immigrant populations. He is also skilled in treating mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, grief, emotional abuse, and life transitions. Kevin has been told by clients and colleagues that he has a calming presence and is a good listener.‍Kevin's 10 years of experience as a counselor has included providing trauma-informed care for undocumented minors who arrived at the US border seeking refuge from their home countries, including ones experiencing Adjustment Disorder, PTSD, and ODD. Additionally, Kevin served in a FQHC on the Southwest side of Chicago, in their clinical setting and school-based health center.

Seth Sultan, LCSW

Seth Sultan, LCSW, earned his Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Northridge. He is a practitioner of Somatic Experiencing; a psychobiological treatment focused on resolving trauma and stress. Seth also has specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of OCD. He integrates these modalities with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Attachment Theory to provide a holistic and individualized therapeutic experience.

Seth believes therapy is a space where individuals should feel heard, seen, and understood. He offers a supportive and nonjudgmental environment that encourages self-discovery and personal growth. His goal is to help clients move toward their best selves while building stronger, healthier relationships.

Seth utilizes a collaborative and compassionate approach, empowering clients to challenge old patterns and create meaningful change. He strives to establish a sense of safety within the therapeutic relationship, exploring emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions to help each person live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Jessie Bangs, MD

Staff Psychiatrist

Dr. Bangs earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nicholls State University and a Master of Science in Acupuncture from Texas Health and Science University. She completed both her MD and General Psychiatry training at Texas Tech Paul Foster School of Medicine, which was followed by specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas School of Medicine. Her clinical approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and she continually expands her knowledge by incorporating tools from a variety of therapeutic modalities.

Dr. Bangs is warm, open-minded, and introspective and is fascinated with the connectedness of the conscious and subconscious mind, body, and spirit.   She approaches treatment through the lens of growth-mindset.  She is prioritizes creating a safe space where patients can strengthen their courage to be vulnerable and authentic. She views therapy as a journey of helping patients explore their inner world, where she acts as a mirror in order for patients to gain insight into their motivations, patterns, values, and higher purpose.

Dr. Bangs prefers knowing her patients on deep level, and highly values the therapeutic process, which requires patience over speed.  She acknowledges that it takes many sessions before even a preliminary understanding of the human being in front of her can be formulated.  She honors the truth that her patients are the experts of themselves, and prefers empowering them over micromanagement.  As subconscious patterns emerge, Dr. Bangs will highlight these, as they are often blind spots to the patient.  Dr. Bangs understands that when it comes to mental health, quick fixes are not the most appropriate or effective means to healing.  However, she respects the use of medications when indicated in addition to talk therapy.

Sheena Dohar, MD

Dr. Sheena Dohar is a board certified general psychiatrist. Before joining Talkiatry, she practiced extensively in community mental health with adults of all ages in both outpatient and inpatient settings and as the medical director of several intensive outpatient and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) based programs. She has experience in private practice and in the dual diagnoses of mental health and substance abuse disorders. Dr. Dohar graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology and then completed medical school at West Virginia University School of Medicine. She trained during her residency at WVU, where she served as a chief resident and received the Brandon K. Fuller Award for Physician Empathy in 2017. Dr. Dohar's practice focuses on medication management. Her goals include helping people feel comfortable seeking treatment as well as promoting an understanding of the purpose and reasoning behind the use of various medications to treat psychiatric disorders. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. When Dr. Dohar may believe that additional therapy is also needed, she will ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. Dr. Dohar appreciates and values working with therapists within the Talkiatry practice and in the community in a collaborative effort to promote wellness. Rebecca Kostopoulos, PMHNP

Director, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners

Rebecca Kostopoulos, PMHNP, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner committed to helping individuals facing mental health challenges lead full and balanced lives.

Her practice primarily focuses on medication management, often combined with supportive or emotionally focused therapy during 30-minute follow-up visits. When appropriate, Rebecca may recommend involving an additional therapist to ensure the most effective and comprehensive care.

She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatry from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College. Her training includes psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, and both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies.

With over a decade of experience, Rebecca has evaluated and treated adults in a variety of clinical settings. Her previous roles include working at Elmhurst Hospital’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program, Gracie Square Hospital’s inpatient unit, as well as in community health centers and skilled nursing facilities.

As a nurse practitioner, Rebecca believes that mental health is just as vital as physical health. She values the therapeutic relationship and approaches treatment with empathy and collaboration, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and compassionate care.
