Laureca Schofield, LMHC
Laureca Schofield is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with experience across outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. She earned her master’s degree from The University of Southern Mississippi and completed her externship at Pine Grove Hospital. She worked nearly nine years in a Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children, where she also ran a master’s-level therapy internship program and supervised case managers and therapists across licensure levels. Laureca has worked with clients representing a wide range of cultural identities.
Laureca values open communication and collaboration when developing clear treatment goals. She is flexible and adaptable in her approach and prioritizes building rapport so clients feel safe and willing to engage in therapy. She is direct and willing to challenge clients when needed while modeling accountability. Laureca values shared decision-making by offering choices and options and welcomes ongoing feedback about what is and is not working in treatment.
Laureca begins treatment by identifying safety concerns, intense emotions, significant losses or changes, and future goals. She reviews a client’s history from conception to the present and revisits this information as needed throughout treatment. She collaborates with clients to develop a treatment plan aligned with their goals and regularly reviews progress. Ongoing assessments are used to establish symptom baselines and monitor improvement.
