Before completing his residency in psychiatry, Dr. Syed graduated from International American University College of Medicine and recently completed his residency at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ. He gained experience as a clinical researcher, emergency medical technician, and a registered nurse in both psychiatric and emergency departments prior to his formal training. This diverse background equipped him with valuable tools to deliver empathetic care to a wide range of patients with experience treating anxiety disorder, traumatic disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, ADHD, OCD, and psychotic disorders. During his residency, Dr. Syed also took on the role of chief resident, demonstrating a remarkable ability to educate both his patients and colleagues. Throughout his residency, Dr. Syed actively pursued additional training opportunities at various safety net hospitals in New Jersey to care for underserved populations.

Dr. Syed places significant importance on collaborating with patients and all relevant parties to gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting the patient's life before making treatment recommendations. Additionally, Dr. Syed emphasizes the importance of lifestyle, sleep, mindfulness, and nutrition, and their impact on overall mental health. Alexandra Baluna, MD

Background and credentials  

Dr. Alexandra Baluna, MD, is board-certified by the American Board of  Psychiatry and Neurology. She received her medical degree from  LSUHC-Shreveport and completed her psychiatry residency training at  Montefiore/Albert-Einstein College of Medicine, where she served as chief of  the Consultation-Liaison (C/L) service. Following residency, Dr. Baluna  served as Senior Chief, during which she was honored with the Leo M. Davidoff  Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students. Her  professional experiences include roles at Fordham University, Albert Einstein  Student Mental Health Counseling Center, and most recently, as an outpatient  psychiatrist at Maimonides Medical Center, where she enjoyed teaching and  supervising residents.

Ian Goldberg, MD

Surinderpal Kahlon, MD

Dr. Kahlon is an experienced Psychiatrist who spent the last 24 years of his career working in Veterans Affairs, where he was able to treat a wide variety of patients. Dr. Kahlon provides medication management along with supportive therapy. In some cases Dr. Kahlon may refer you to a counselor or therapist for further care and collaboration. He has experience treating a wide range of conditions, including major depressive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and PTSD. Dr. Kahlon utilizes a well-rounded approach to treat the whole person, through medication, active listening, and recommending talk-centered counseling programs. Dr. Kahlon was trained in the VA system associated with Chicago Medical School (Finch University), which is located in North Chicago, Illinois. At the conclusion of his training, he was hired at the VA in Danville, Illinois until 2021. He also had a part-time private practice, which enhanced his experience in adult psychiatry. Dr. Kahlon graduated from a prestigious medical school that has consistently held a high position (4th) among the top 100 medical schools in the world.‍

Ying Wang, MD

Dr. Wang is a board-certified psychiatrist in both General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, with extensive experience in providing compassionate, evidence based to mental healthcare. She currently serves as an outpatient psychiatrist providing care to veterans, where she integrates evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy. Dr. Wang completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also contributed to clinical education through supervising residents and conducting quality improvement initiatives.

Dr. Wang believes in crafting individualized treatment plans that address both the biological and psychological aspects of mental illness. She specializes in the combined use of psychotherapy and medication management to support long-term healing. Elizabeth Foote, MD

Dr. Elizabeth Foote is a board-certified addiction and general psychiatrist practicing medicine for over 15 years.  

Dr. Elizabeth Foote focuses on providing integrated care for those with co-occurring disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and other forms of mental illness in the outpatient setting.  

She provides medication management as well as psychotherapy which includes drug and alcohol counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and cognitive processing therapy for trauma.  When combining these treatment approaches, patients receive more comprehensive mental health care.  Treatment begins with an initial assessment and a comprehensive treatment plan developed in coordination with the patient to best meet their needs.
