Can I see two psychiatrists? Or have one at Talkiatry and one somewhere else?

Seeing more than one psychiatrist

We don’t see patients who are already seeing a psychiatrist. And that’s for your safety.

Making decisions about a patient’s care is complex. Having more than one person prescribe or manage medications can lead to complications that can negatively impact your care of your health.

What’s most important is for you to find one doctor you trust to make those decisions. If it’s not us, that’s ok. We just want you to be comfortable with your care.

Temporary arrangements

If you're going to be in a different state for an extended period of time but want to continue seeing your Talkiatry psychiatrist long-term, let your Talkiatry psychiatrist know your plans and we can help make sure your care continues in a way that works for you.

What about a therapist or psychologist?

For many patients, seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist or psychologist at the same time can be a great approach. As long as they’re not prescribing medications, we totally support seeing a therapist as well.
