6 tips for success

To get the most out of your care and make sure your clinician has everything they need from you, be sure to follow these guidelines.
Tip #1

Already have an appointment?

  • At the time of your visit, make sure you’re in the same state as the address you gave us when you signed up. Otherwise, your visit may have to be rescheduled.
  • Choosing a quiet, well-lit room will help you feel more comfortable and help your psychiatrist hear and see you better.
  • Don’t attend your visit from a moving car—even if you’re not the driver.
  • Let us know if you're moving or traveling out of state.
Tip #2

Avoiding technical difficulties

  • You can join your appointment using a phone, tablet, or computer, as long as it has a camera and a strong internet connection.
  • If you’re using a phone, make sure to download the healow app for Apple or Google before your first visit and silence your calls to avoid interruptions.
  • If you’re using a computer, we recommend using Google Chrome and closing any other tabs you have open.

Tip #3

Preparing for your visit

  • Log into your visit about 10 minutes early so you have time to make sure everything’s working properly.
  • Be ready to talk openly and honestly. Your clinician will ask about your medical history, including any medications you’re currently taking, and may ask you to discuss some difficult topics.
  • Talkiatry does not allow patients to record visits with clinicians. Violating this policy may result in us discharging you from our care.
Tip #4

After your visit

  • If you have questions for your psychiatrist, send them a message through your patient portal or the Healow app. They’ll respond within 48 hours.
  • Follow the care plan recommended by your psychiatrist. It will be designed to meet your needs and help you achieve your goals, and it can only succeed if you stick to it.
  • Let your psychiatrist know about any changes in your symptoms or difficulties you’re facing.
  • We’ll send you a bill by email. Just follow the link to pay it.

Cancellation policy

  • If you need to reschedule or cancel, call 833-351-TALK (8255) or email hello@talkiatry.com.
  • To make sure we can help as many patients as possible, we charge a $100 fee if you miss an appointment or cancel with less than 48 hours' notice.
Tip #6

Not a good fit with your clinician?

  • We make it easy to switch clinicians if you’re not feeling a connection. Just be sure to give it a few visits so you and your clinician can get to know each other before making a decision.
  • To switch clinicians, call 833-351-TALK (8255) or email hello@talkiatry.com.
  • Note that the process can take up to 10 days, but you’ll still be able to message your current clinician through your patient portal.
