Kathryn Hu, MD

Dr. Kathryn Hu is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. She majored in biology and neuroscience at Brandeis University, attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital. ‍Dr. Hu practices a patient-centered approach to mental health care. She works collaboratively on goals of treatment, with a focus on medication management while incorporating supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. ‍Dr. Hu treats a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and ADHD.

Gregory Marc Varhely, MD

Dr. Gregory Marc Varhely is a board-certified general adult psychiatrist. He grew up in Austin, Texas, and attended Texas State University, where he earned a BA in Psychology and a Master's degree in Biology/Biochemistry. After graduating from medical school at Ross University, he completed his residency in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Varhely has served as an outpatient psychiatrist at the Department of Veterans Affairs and acted as an attending physician for resident psychiatrists at Texas A&M and UT Dell Medical Schools. He then acted as a sole proprietor of an outpatient psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy practice in Georgetown, Texas and later started contracting for North Central Health Care Mental Health Clinic, applying psychotropic medication management expertise to community-based treatment facilities in Wisconsin. Dr. Varhely's approach is rooted in forming meaningful connections with his patients. He wholeheartedly believes that psychological suffering stems from a blend of biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors. Mark Simonds, MD

Dr. Mark Simonds is a Board-Certified general psychiatrist with training and certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has been practicing general psychiatry for about 25 years. His practice focuses on initial assessment of psychiatric conditions, treatment planning, and psychotropic medication management, typically with a one-hour initial intake and 30-minute follow-up visits. Collaboration with a psychotherapist for the best treatment outcome is welcome and encouraged. Dr. Simonds is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Southern California, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry also at USC. Dr. Simonds specializes in psychopharmacology, and as a generalist, he has a lot of experience treating patients with mood disorders (including Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder); trauma and reactive psychoses; pain and psychosomatic disorders; and ADHD and Developmental Disorders, such as Aspergers. Having grown up in the Southern Appalachians but having lived most of his professional life in Los Angeles, he has worked with clients of various socioeconomics, religions, and ethnicities, as well as LGBT youth and adults. He lived abroad in Leeds, England, for one year in college, and continues to travel and obtain knowledge through these experiences. He trains regularly in the gym and does long-distance street biking, and he encourages exercise and a good diet as part of his clients' mental health recovery.

NeKeisha Hutchinson, LPC

Nekeisha Hutchinson, LPC, earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Post University in 2017 and has worked with a diverse demographic in a clinical capacity including outpatient and in-home settings conducting both individual and family therapy, within the Department of Corrections with clients struggling with substance use challenges and crisis services over the past seven years. Prior to becoming a therapist, Nekeisha spent 10 years working in early childhood education and seven years working as a Family Support Specialist in homes with both prenatal and postnatal mothers providing support in attachment building and assisting them in securing community resources. Nekeisha has experience working with adolescents, adults, senior citizens and families. Nekeisha uses a variety of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) to help clients develop appropriate tools to address their challenges and live more fulfilling lives.

Nekeisha Hutchinson has experience working with youth, adolescents, adults, the elderly and families. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, parenting challenges, stress management and conflict resolution. Nekeisha utilizes evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and solution focused therapy (SFT) to enable clients to develop effective coping skills to overcome their challenges. I place great effort in fostering collaboration in an effort to gain understanding of the situation and the symptoms in order to form an appropriate diagnosis, identifying goals, working together in treatment planning and monitor progress. Megan Wynne, MD

Dr. Megan Wynne is board certified in adult psychiatry and completed fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (Psychosomatic Medicine). She has been in practicing psychiatry since 2006. Dr. Wynne completed her medical degree at Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, her psychiatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and her consultation/liaison psychiatric fellowship at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Queens, NY. She continued to work in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at North Shore Hospital in NY, before working for nine years at Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospital as a staff psychiatrist and associate at the University of Pennsylvania University Hospital. During this time, she worked closely with patients struggling with Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. She acted as an attending psychiatrist in training medical students, psychiatric residents and fellows. Following a move to New Zealand, she worked as lead psychiatrist for Te Puna Waiora, Maori Mental Health team (Indigenous Person mental health clinic) at Counties Manakau District Health Board. She worked with multiple patients facing cultural challenges, as well as psychosocial stressors (poverty, family fragmentation, poor education). During this time, she worked within the indigenous system of mental health, which treats not just emotional or physical issues for a person, but spiritual and familial as well. She has incorporated this into her treatment approach for all patients. Dr. Wynne has always believed that medication must be used in conjunction with psychodynamic therapy, and medical and social supports to most appropriately treat a patient. Shelah Radke, MD, JD, is a double board-certified Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist with over a decade of extensive experience in mental health care, specializing in the well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults. She currently serves in St. Louis, MO, where she is known for her dynamic leadership as a Medical Director and her robust clinical practice. Throughout her career, Dr. Radke has held pivotal roles, including Medical Director of Crisis Psychiatry Services at Mercy Hospital and key positions in several reputable outpatient clinics across the U.S. Her clinical acumen spans a diverse range of settings, from private practice and crisis care to specialized programs in residential and educational institutions. Mayra Cabrera Dean, MD

Dr. Cabrera is a board‐certified psychiatrist with several years of experience working with an ethnically and culturally diverse population in outpatient, inpatient, and psychiatric emergency room settings. Most recently, Dr. Cabrera practiced privately treating adults with a wide range of mental illnesses both in person and via telepsychiatry. Prior to this, she was an attending psychiatrist in the outpatient department and in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Center at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where she also served as Associate Training Director of Psychiatric Residency Training. Dr. Cabrera has a strong background in psychopharmacology and supportive and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Deora Johnson, PMHNP

Staff Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Deora Johnson, DNP, PMHNP is a board certified Adult Psychiatric Nurse practitioner with 24 years of experience. He has a passion for providing clients with a holistic approach to mental health care which includes both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. He works with adult and senior populations focusing on assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues. He works closely with you to help guide you through the process of understanding and deciding on the most effective interventions/medication management options for your diagnosis. Supportive therapy, Solution Focused therapy, or Motivational Interviewing are integral components of medication management appointments with Deora. Deora completed the Master of Science in Nursing degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He also completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He has experience in treating patients in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings. His areas of specialty include treatment of Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, PTSD and Insomnia. His doctoral research focus was nonpharmacologic interventions for insomnia in depressed patients. Deora has experience working with the military veteran population. His clinical experience with the VA Outpatient Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland focused on treating PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and Bipolar Disorders in returning veterans from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His clinical case load also included veterans from Vietnam and Korean war eras. Meredith McMillan, LMHC

Meredith McMillan is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist with 9 years of experience working in mental health. She specializes in working with individuals who experienced trauma and toxic stress, as well as those with addiction issues, relationship challenges, and adjustment disorders. Ms. McMillan's therapy practice focuses on providing person-centered encouragement and support. She went on to become the Clinical Supervisor at the Children's Home Society providing care to children and adolescents impacted by trauma and the child welfare system. Before joining Talkiatry, she also served as the clinical supervisor and therapist at The Mary Welsh Foundation, providing care to individuals of all ages and specializing in trauma and family issues. Ms. McMillan has worked with individuals dealing with a variety of mental health issues throughout her years of experience as a therapist.
