Biography
My work as a licensed professional counselor centers on talk therapy for adults, and I've been doing this for more than 20 years. Over that time I've stayed drawn to people working through the aftermath of trauma, and I especially connect with clients in the LGBTQIA+ community who want a counselor who takes their history seriously.
My interest in this work isn't abstract. As a teen and young adult, I struggled with depression. There weren't many treatment options back then, but I found a counselor who made a real difference, and that's what set me on the path to doing the same for other people. It's why I lean on client-centered work: I build therapy around what you actually need, not a fixed protocol I apply to everyone. I use cognitive behavioral therapy often, though how we use it depends on you.
A first session is unhurried. I ask questions, I listen closely, and I try to get a clear sense of what brought you in before we settle on where to go next. I tend to be honest and steady rather than pushy, and I set a pace that fits you.
After all these years, watching people grow is still the part of this work I care about most. If any of that fits what you're looking for, I'd be happy to talk.
