Dr. Carter chose the field of psychiatry with the goal of empowering her patients and equipping them with the skills and tools to improve their mental health. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard and supported. She strives to destigmatize mental illness and normalize seeking help when struggling. Her passion for psychiatry stems from a deep interest in connecting with people and understanding their unique stories.

Dr. Carter believes the patient-physician relationship should be a partnership, built on trust, empathy, and shared goals. She encourages honesty, collaboration, and open communication, and believes there are no wrong questions, and your voice matters. She encourages questions and feedback and tailors care to each person’s goals, comfort level, and pace.

Dr. Carter wants to get to know the whole person, not just their symptoms. Together, she works with patients to create a personalized and thoughtful treatment plan that may include therapy, lifestyle support, and/or medication, always with room to adjust based on your evolving needs and preferences.

Rachel Meyen, MD

Dr. Meyen graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency training at Harvard South Shore. She completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry through Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Meyen was employed by the Department of Veteran Affairs for 10 years prior to joining Talkiatry. She is board certified in both adult and geriatric psychiatry. She specializes in depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, and many other mental health disorders.

Dr. Meyen is a Harvard trained, board certified, adult psychiatrist who specializes in creating individually tailored treatment plans for patients using high quality evidence and up-to-date clinical guidelines. She has a passion for shared decision making, which means empathetic listening to each patient, and making a customized plan that supports their individual values and preferences.  

When meeting with a patient for the first time, Dr. Meyen carefully reviews current symptoms, past history, patient values/preferences. She works with the patient to develop individual treatment goals. Dr. Meyen values developing a trusting relationship with each patient and wants each patient to feel heard and valued.

Nazokat Atadjanova, PMHNP

Staff Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Kat Atadjanova is a board-certified psychiatrist dedicated to providing holistic and compassionate care for individuals navigating mental health challenges. She earned her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Tulane. With experience in both fields, she is especially comfortable caring for patients with medical comorbidities and takes an integrative approach to treatment.

Dr. Atadjanova values collaboration and believes that treatment works best when patients are active participants in their own care. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where patients feel heard and respected. Her approach combines evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy and lifestyle guidance, tailoring each treatment plan to the unique needs and goals of the individual.

Ali-Noor Jessani, DO

Dr. Ali-Noor Jessani, DO, completed medical school in Des Moines, Iowa, and third-year rotations in Chicago. They finished internship and residency at VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, VA, and are currently completing a forensic psychiatry fellowship in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Jessani has a conversational style that fosters trust and openness. They encourage patients to ask any and all questions and take pride in helping people understand their symptoms. Patients can expect a provider who genuinely enjoys listening to their stories.

Dr. Jessani begins by thoroughly reviewing each patient’s history, concerns, and goals during the initial session. From there, they develop individualized treatment plans tailored to align with each patient’s objectives, emphasizing collaborative care and clear communication.

Ocean Workman, MD

Dr. Ocean Workman, MD, has experience in outpatient, inpatient, and psychiatric emergency settings. They earned their medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington, where they served as Outpatient Chief Resident and completed an area of distinction in psychotherapy. Dr. Workman also holds a Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance from Logan University and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher trained in Rishikesh, India. They have a special interest in serving LGBTQIA+, kink/sex-positive, and non-monogamous communities.

Dr. Workman’s style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each patient’s individuality. They combine evidence-based and personalized treatments that may include medication management, psychotherapy (ACT, DBT, CBT, psychodynamic, and supportive modalities), and holistic wellness approaches. Dr. Workman strives to create a safe, affirming space where patients can explore and grow in ways aligned with their values.

Michael Bartolac, DO

Dr. Michael Bartolac is a board-certified psychiatrist with experience in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care. He has treated a wide range of psychiatric conditions including affective, psychotic, anxiety, trauma-related, substance use, neurodevelopmental, personality, and neurocognitive disorders. His clinical experience includes hybrid remote outpatient work, inpatient psychiatry on locked units, consultation for medically hospitalized patients, and performing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). He earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed psychiatry residency at West Virginia University/Charleston Area Medical Center.

Dr. Bartolac values creating a space where patients feel comfortable voicing their concerns. His treatment style is rooted in open communication and trust. He primarily focuses on medication management and supportive therapy, while incorporating psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques during 30-minute follow-up visits.
