My philosophy includes a healing-oriented approach that considers the whole person, including all lifestyle aspects. I aim to provide collaborative and comprehensive care, which may include medication management, lifestyle interventions, stress reduction techniques, and other integrative approaches. I employ pharmacotherapy along with supportive therapy and integrative approaches, and I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship where the patient feels empowered is the key to healing.

I am double Board Certified in Psychiatry and Lifestyle Medicine. I completed my psychiatry residency training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt, where I served as the chief resident. I am currently working on completing my Ph.D. in Integrative Medicine. I have more than five years of experience treating patients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar, OCD, ADHD, and other mental health issues, and I have practiced in various settings over my career, including working for the Department of Defense, private practice, and community mental health. I am fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

Find a psychiatrist in Boston, MA

Booking a psychiatrist in Boston can mean long waits. As an online psychiatry option for Boston, Talkiatry matches you with a Massachusetts-licensed psychiatrist who sees you via secure video, so you can be seen from home anywhere in the Boston area. Because visits happen online, you are not limited to the few providers who have an opening and are close to you.

How online psychiatry works for Boston residents

You start by answering a few questions about your symptoms and history, then get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in Massachusetts. Online psychiatry in Boston works over secure video, so you can join from home instead of driving across the city to an appointment.

Your first appointment lasts 60 minutes, which gives you time to talk through your symptoms, ask questions, and work with your psychiatrist on a treatment plan. Follow-ups are usually about 30 minutes to check how you are doing and adjust your care. Your psychiatrist is licensed in Massachusetts, so you can be seen from anywhere in the state as long as you are physically in Massachusetts during the visit.

What a psychiatrist in Boston can help with

Talkiatry psychiatrists are medical doctors who evaluate your symptoms, work toward finding the right diagnosis, and build care around your needs. They treat a range of conditions, so whether you are looking for an anxiety psychiatrist in Boston, help with depression, or an ADHD psychiatrist in Boston, you find someone who’s the right fit for you. That includes anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and PTSD.

As medical doctors, psychiatrists can prescribe and manage medication when it fits your treatment plan. Medication is one possible part of care at Talkiatry, not a default. Depending on your needs and availability, therapy may also be part of your care.

Does insurance cover a psychiatrist in Boston?

If you want a Boston psychiatrist that takes insurance, Talkiatry is in-network with major insurers. Your coverage is verified during our free assessment, before you schedule a visit, so you know where you stand up front. What you pay out of pocket depends on your specific plan, so it helps to confirm the details with your insurance company.

Mental health care in Boston

Getting an appointment can be harder in some parts of Massachusetts than others. As of December 31, 2025, KFF reports that in areas officially short on mental health professionals, only about a quarter of the need is currently met, and it would take just 16 more practitioners to close that gap. That can mean fewer local openings and a longer wait. Online psychiatry helps by connecting you virtually with clinicians throughout Massachusetts, rather than limiting you to the providers who happen to have an opening in your immediate area.

Common questions about psychiatric care in Boston, MA

Can I see a psychiatrist online in Boston?

Yes. Our psychiatrists are licensed to treat patients virtually throughout the state. If you live in the Boston area, you can meet with a psychiatrist licensed in Massachusetts by secure video from home. You just need to be physically located in Massachusetts during your visit.

Can I just go straight to a psychiatrist?

In most cases, yes. You usually do not need a referral to start with a psychiatrist. With online psychiatry, you answer a few questions, get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in Massachusetts, and schedule a video visit without a separate referral step.

Why is it so hard to see a psychiatrist?

Access is part of the problem. KFF reports that Massachusetts's mental health professional shortage areas meet only about 24.7% of the state's need for practitioners, which can leave fewer local openings and longer waits. Meeting with a psychiatrist online opens up your options, since you can be matched with any psychiatrist licensed in Massachusetts instead of only those with a nearby opening.

Do you take insurance?

Talkiatry is in-network with most major insurers. Your coverage is checked during the free assessment before you schedule, and your out-of-pocket cost depends on your specific plan, so it helps to confirm the details with your insurer.

Can a psychiatrist prescribe medication online in Boston?

Yes, when it is clinically appropriate and legally permitted. A psychiatrist can prescribe and manage medication as part of your care, but a prescription is never guaranteed. Your psychiatrist decides what fits your situation after evaluating your symptoms.

How soon can I see a psychiatrist in Boston?

Many patients are seen within days rather than the months a local search can require. After you complete the assessment and get matched, you schedule your video visit at a time that works for you.
