Biography

Hello, I am Belinda Walsh, a psychiatric mental health and women’s health nurse practitioner. I have been a nurse for over 25 years, working in public health, obstetrics, and psychiatry.

I love working with people and talking with them. My purpose in the therapeutic relationship is to learn about my patient and their goals. I then share my knowledge so we can develop a treatment plan my patient is comfortable with while staying open to their expectations and desires. My primary goal is to help improve a patient’s life so they can be their best selves.

During an initial appointment, I like my client to tell me why they are seeing me, their concerns, and how these have affected their life. I then learn their history, what they have been through, what has or has not helped in the past, and their goals for treatment. Quality care takes time, and sometimes it takes more than one appointment. I will be as informative as possible, working together on realistic expectations and a treatment approach that fits each client’s life.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP, PMHNP-BC). I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University, as well as a Master’s, Certified Nurse Midwife, from University of Cincinnati, and a Post Master’s, PMHNP, from Liberty University. I have over 20 years of nursing experience, including labor and delivery and practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife, before transitioning into psychiatry. My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, PMDD, and postpartum depression, with a holistic, integrative approach that treats the whole person—not just symptoms.

I offer evidence-based psychiatric care that treats each patient as a whole person, not a diagnosis. I enjoy working with patients managing mood, focus, or anxiety concerns, new mothers navigating postpartum shifts in mood, and those with long-standing mental health conditions. I understand that taking the first step toward care is hard, and I'm here to support patients through that process. Mental health struggles are nothing to be ashamed of.

My goal is to understand each patient's history, struggles, concerns, and goals to formulate a treatment plan unique to them. I prioritize supportive, open, and collaborative communication. I work with patients to explore treatment options, including medication and other approaches, to find what works best, since no single approach fits every patient. My focus is on sustainable strategies that help patients feel more like themselves and thrive, not just symptom management.
