I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist who specializes in providing patient-centered care. I offer a mix of medication management in conjunction with supportive therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. I received my medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. I completed my general psychiatry residency training at Boston University Medical Center, where I was selected as co-chief resident. I also completed an additional post-graduate fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis. During training, I worked with an ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse patient population with various psychiatric illnesses and have experience navigating the many intersecting systems of mental health care. I also worked with experts in the fields of psychosis and substance abuse, and co-authored a book chapter on the immune system and psychiatric illness.

I completed my undergraduate education at Allegheny College with a bachelor's degree in biology and a double minor in psychology and chemistry. I went on to pursue a Medical Doctorate at Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society for academic achievement. After medical school, I completed my psychiatry residency at Allegheny Health Network. I have co-authored a book chapter on women's behavioral health and have presented posters on several different topics in mental health for the Pittsburgh Psychiatric Society, including a presentation on the identification and management of complex trauma in victims of sex trafficking. I have 2 years of training in outpatient perinatal and postpartum behavioral health and 6 months of experience working as a co-facilitator in a perinatal and postpartum intensive outpatient treatment program, both through the Alexis Joy D'Achille Foundation for Postpartum Depression at West Penn Hospital. My work as a co-facilitator included assisting patient groups in understanding and developing coping skills for a variety of therapy modalities including mindfulness, behavioral activation, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavioral (DBT) therapies. I am also dedicated to serving the LGBTQIA+ community, with experience in LGBTQIA+ patient care over 4 years at Allegheny Health Network in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient, outpatient, and intensive outpatient programs. To better understand USA public health and preventive care, I pursued an advanced degree in Master of Public Health from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Due to my interest in global health, I worked as a post-doctoral fellow in Global Health at Rutgers University. I completed my psychiatry residency at Cooper University Hospital, where I served as chief resident. Prior to joining Talkiatry, I was working as an attending psychiatrist and teaching faculty in an academic hospital.

I have experience managing diverse patients ranging from chronic severe mental illness and dual diagnosis patients to crisis management and high-functioning outpatient populations. I have years of experience treating patients from different cultural and religious backgrounds. Prior to moving to the USA, I worked as a medical officer in a government hospital system.

My practice focuses on psychopharmacological interventions, which I typically combine with a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I strongly believe that the best outcomes are achieved when you treat a person and not just the illness. While I enjoy working with adults with various psychiatric disorders, my primary focus is on treating adults with various anxiety and depressive disorders. I also have a special interest in co-occurring sleep disorders with these conditions.

I have completed adult psychiatry training and am board certified, and I have been actively involved in mental health care in various capacities over the past 7 years. I received my medical degree from one of the largest publicly funded medical schools in India, L.L.R.M. Medical College, Meerut, India, before moving to the US. During this fellowship I studied Consultation-liaison psychiatry, also known as psychosomatic medicine, an exciting subspecialty of psychiatry that focuses on the care of patients with comorbid psychiatric and general medical conditions. Consultation-liaison psychiatry deals with the understanding and advancement of medical science, education, and the provision of healthcare for medically ill and complex patients.

Dr. Daniel Weiss is a double board-certified psychiatrist in adult and forensic psychiatry. His expertise is in diagnosing and treating psychiatric conditions, including depression and bipolar spectrum disorders, anxiety, stress and adjustment problems, maternal mental health, OCD, and other disorders. In addition, he has extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, college and graduate students, creative professionals, and a range of working adults. Through a supportive psychopharmacologic approach, Dr. Weiss strives to provide a comfortable experience in which doctor and patient work to understand the presenting problems, reduce symptoms, and optimize functioning. In addition, Dr. Weiss encourages concurrent therapy and will communicate with that provider in a collaborative care arrangement. Dr. Weiss previously served as an attending psychiatrist on the staff of Montefiore Medical Center and was formerly a faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Before joining Talkiatry, Dr. Weiss spent a decade working at The New School as the university's staff psychiatrist.
