I am a board certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 25 years. I have always been fascinated by how the brain works, especially in the setting of stress, anxiety, and trauma. I completed my training at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine MD/PhD program and earned my PhD in Neuroscience. I subsequently completed a Residency in Adult Psychiatry including an Anxiety Disorder Research Fellowship at the University of Florida. I had a private practice for over 10 years with a focus on providing psychotherapy integrated with pharmacological management. I worked for 25 years with adult and geriatric Veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs with a focus on treating PTSD, as well as a full range of anxiety and mood disorders, including 7 years of providing care through telehealth treatment. I also have 10 years of experience working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system.

I take great pride in forming meaningful connections with my patients and listening to their concerns. I rely on evidence-based treatments to guide pharmacotherapy decisions, and in addition to medication management, I incorporate supportive psychotherapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy techniques in my visits. When appropriate, I will refer patients for further psychotherapy and collaborate with therapists to provide more comprehensive care. I completed my medical training at the University of Georgia/Augusta University Medical Partnership. While in medical school, I received a Master of Business Administration at the University of Georgia. I then moved to North Carolina to complete my psychiatric residency training at the Brody School of Medicine/ECU Health Medical Center. During my training, I gained extensive clinical experience working with adults and veterans in psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. I also served as a chief resident of the psychiatry program and published several case studies.

I am a Board-Certified psychiatrist. I graduated from the University of Georgia Honors Program with a B.S. in Chemistry and earned my M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. During my psychiatry residency in Greenville, SC, I served as chief resident and gained extensive experience through moonlighting. I joined the faculty of Gateway's Savannah residency program in 2021, where I served as Assistant Program Director, and I continue to teach residents and students as an Assistant Professor at Mercer University and the Medical College of Georgia. In my community psychiatry practice, I specialized in Assertive Community Treatment, worked with First Episode Psychosis programs, a forensic Diversion-Reentry clinic, telehealth, and outpatient psychiatry, particularly serving graduate students, professionals, and their families in the Savannah area.

Raised in South Carolina, and now a resident of Florida, my wife of 31 years and I have six children. I enjoy outdoor activities and team sports and am an avid fan of Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. I at times incorporate analogies from their works into therapy if appropriate.

I was born in Hungary, just a few months before the Hungarian Revolution against the Soviets broke out in 1956. My family and I fled under difficult circumstances and immigrated to the United States. I grew up in New York City, attended The Bronx High School of Science, and went on to Columbia University for my B.A., where I took a double major in chemistry and music. After obtaining my M.D. from S.U.N.Y. in Syracuse, I returned to New York City for residency and fellowship training. During this time I won the Bendheim Fellowship Award at Cohen Children's Medical Center for a research study that examined the effects of background music on the academic performance of children with ADHD.

My current areas of interest include adult ADHD, psychiatric and medical co-morbidities, and the LGBTQ population.

I wholeheartedly believe that treating patients holistically is of high importance, with a focus on their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. I pursued my residency in adult psychiatry at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, with particular interest and training in child, adolescent, and young adult Psychiatry. After completing training, I worked with children and adults in a variety of treatment settings including Community Mental Health Centers and hospitals, providing inpatient, residential, and outpatient services. Prior to joining the Talkiatry team, I participated in psychiatric research developing new treatment methods for complex psychiatric disorders.
