Biography
Dr. Joseph Friedman earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin and completed both a four-year psychiatry residency and a two-year fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is also CPHQ certified through the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Over a 28-year career, he has held leadership roles across clinical, academic, and research settings, including founding and directing multiple programs within the Mount Sinai Health System. He currently serves as a Professor in Psychiatry and Neuroscience at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Friedman specializes in helping high-functioning individuals whose careers, academics, relationships, or daily lives have been disrupted by mental health challenges. He combines evidence-based psychiatric care with cognitive, behavioral, and supportive psychotherapy techniques to help patients regain stability and performance. He believes treatment works best as a collaborative partnership and works closely with each patient to define meaningful goals and adjust care based on progress.
