Biography
Dr. Julie Wood is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over 10 years of clinical experience. Medicine is a second career for Dr. Wood. Prior to attending medical school, she worked as a research scientist for 15 years. She completed her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Chicago and the University of Texas, Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Wood strongly believes in treating the whole person and strives to understand what contributes to a person's mental health conditions. She also understands the importance of empathy through the lens of equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion. She genuinely believes every person has a unique history and wants to understand each person as an individual when considering a collaborative treatment plan. Dr. Wood has worked in various outpatient settings including community mental health and large managed care organizations. She also has experience in inpatient and residential levels of care, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs. Her background includes successfully treating a variety of conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, eating disorder, addiction, gender dysphoria and maternal mental health conditions as well as late life psychiatric disorders.
