Adam Griffin, MD
Dr. Adam Griffin earned his BA in Psychology and Sports Medicine from Rice University and his medical degree from the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as chief resident and received the department’s top resident psychotherapy award. He is also an experienced yoga and meditation instructor who teaches at national yoga conferences.
Dr. Griffin believes strong patient relationships are the foundation of effective treatment. He combines psychotherapy with medication management to provide comprehensive care and incorporates his background in mindfulness, yoga, and meditation into his therapeutic approach when appropriate.
Dr. Griffin begins by learning about each patient’s history, current concerns, and treatment goals during the initial visit. As the patient-physician relationship develops, he explores their experiences in greater depth and collaborates with them to create an individualized treatment plan tailored to their needs.

Akshar Brahmbhatt, DO
I create a warm, collaborative environment where patients feel heard and respected. I value open communication and work with patients to set meaningful, realistic goals at a pace that feels comfortable. Using evidence-based treatments, I explain the reasoning behind each approach so patients feel informed and empowered throughout their care. I bring expertise in ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, bipolar depression, OCD, and a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
In the first session, I take time to understand each patient's history, concerns, and goals. Together, we identify key areas of focus and build an individualized treatment plan. Follow-up sessions build on progress, address challenges, and adjust the plan as needs evolve. I work at the patient's pace, helping them explore patterns, gain insight, and develop a sustainable path forward.
I attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I majored in Economics, before earning my medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University. I completed my psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient care.

Anthony Finch, MD
I specialize in both psychiatric medication management and various forms of psychotherapy. I believe that effective psychiatric treatment requires attention to multiple domains, including the establishment of a strong doctor/patient relationship, the development of a sound understanding of who the patient is as an individual, and a comprehensive assessment of spiritual and biological factors contributing to mental health. As such, my practice includes both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions that aim to treat the whole person on an individualized basis. I see patients of all ages, specializing in older adults, and treat all psychiatric conditions.
I am a graduate of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center General Psychiatry residency and the Duke University Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship programs, and I am board certified in Psychiatry by the ABPN. Caleb Cheatham, MD
I take an open, nonjudgmental approach and strive to create a safe space for patients to share vulnerably. I believe in leading with compassion and listening as a core tool for understanding. My treatment philosophy is integrative, combining thoughtful medication management with supportive, individualized therapy, and I encourage patients to consider the role of lifestyle factors like sleep, nutrition, and exercise. I begin with a conversational consultation focused on understanding each patient's story and needs, and together we co-create a personalized treatment plan grounded in the patient's values. I emphasize clear communication and routinely revisit treatment goals to ensure alignment, progress, and ongoing support.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist with a strong foundation in psychopharmacology and a deep commitment to person-centered care. I completed my undergraduate studies at Stetson University in DeLand, FL, before earning my medical degree and completing my psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN.

Carmen Orellana Martinez, MD
I am a Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry and have been in practice for over 6 years, both in the U.S. and abroad. I am double board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry and adult psychiatry. My practice focuses on medication management, and I strive to provide exceptional medical care with extensive experience in treating persons with diverse behavioral disorders and backgrounds.
I involve my patients in all decisions about their health and provide care that is respectful of patient preferences, needs, and values. I typically recommend evidence-based treatments and may, occasionally, believe that concurrent therapy is also needed. In those cases, I would ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.
I received my medical degree from Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador. I completed a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Southern University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. After completing my training, I remained at the school, where I worked as an Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and treating patients with various psychiatric conditions. I also have experience in treating treatment-resistant mood disorders with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Carolyn Benson, MD
My primary objectives are to help patients achieve success in both treatment and life goals and to always take time to truly listen. The primary focus of my sessions is to provide medication management with education on treatment options. I provide therapy models that are appropriate within that 20–30 minute medication session. If longer therapy time frames are indicated, I will discuss the need to add a therapist to the treatment team to achieve optimal care. My successful treatment outcomes are based on experience, staying current on psychiatric treatments, and having open communication with patients and families of children/adolescents so they can choose the most effective treatments.
I have 21 years of experience in treating adults, adolescents, and children. I graduated from Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, then moved to Rochester, NY to complete my residency and fellowship at University of Rochester School of Medicine. My focus over the last ten years has been on working with young adults, children/adolescents, and their families. My expertise covers a wide array of therapeutic modalities and mental health diagnoses.
Prior to medical school, I worked in both marine and biochemical research venues and was coauthor on several research papers. I have an avid interest in the emerging field of neuroscience and frequently give talks to colleagues and students on current research topics.

Chhavi Chaudhary, MD
My style is warm, curious, and collaborative. I emphasize understanding each individual in the context of their psychosocial development, life experiences, and cultural and societal stressors. I believe mental health cannot be separated from the challenges faced at school, work, within families, and in society at large. I listen carefully, ensuring patients and families feel understood, and work together to create practical, personalized treatment plans. I integrate psychopharmacology with therapy, coping strategies, and resilience-building, aiming for patients to feel supported, empowered, and actively engaged in care that evolves with their needs.
I am a dual board-certified psychiatrist with subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I completed my fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where I also served as Chief Fellow, and my general psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. Clayton Stone, DO
I offer a friendly, nonjudgmental space where patients feel supported and empowered. My collaborative style emphasizes respect, transparency, and shared decision-making. I am especially passionate about helping people navigate stress, build self-esteem, and develop healthy relationships. Depending on patient needs, I use tools like talk therapy, lifestyle changes, parent coaching, and medication management to support healing. I specialize in treating both children and adults.
I am a native of the Tennessee mountains. I completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis and a general psychiatry residency in San Antonio, Texas. I have worked in academic medical centers, public schools, state hospitals, a transgender health clinic, and a residential eating disorder center. I am experienced in caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals and underserved rural communities.
Sessions begin with a detailed review of each patient's history, current concerns, and goals. I then work together with the patient to create a personalized care plan that may include therapy techniques, medications, psychoeducation, or coping strategies. When treating children or teens, I often include family involvement or parent coaching to promote meaningful progress.

Colleen Ryan, MD
I believe effective treatment begins with understanding a patient's life experiences and perspective. I take time to explore how patients see their challenges and what is or is not working for them. While medication can be an important tool, I do not focus on medication alone and value open discussion about its benefits and concerns. I prioritize understanding how patients are functioning across all areas of life and strongly value a collaborative approach, viewing treatment as a partnership built on shared decision-making. I begin with a thorough evaluation that includes medical and family history, ensuring that underlying medical issues are not overlooked. The first visit is also an opportunity to build rapport and help patients feel comfortable. Together, my patients and I develop a treatment plan aligned with their goals. I recognize that goals evolve over time and work collaboratively to adjust treatment as part of the ongoing growth process.
I grew up in Kentucky and have trained and practiced in a wide range of clinical settings. My experience spans inpatient and outpatient care, community mental health, state hospitals, addiction clinics, VA hospitals, and academic medicine. I became board certified in addiction medicine in 2019, deepening my understanding of how addiction affects individuals and families. I have also worked extensively with patients experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, including both military- and civilian-related trauma. My diverse background allows me to appreciate the complex personal, social, and medical factors that influence mental health.

Mental health care in Memphis
Access to psychiatry is limited across Tennessee. The state has 97 federally designated mental health professional shortage areas.
