Anthony Thornton, MD

Deborah Gross, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed her psychiatric residency at the University of Washington. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has extensive experience treating mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, addiction, disordered eating, and personality disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She is also ASAM-certified in addiction medicine and holds a lifetime certificate from the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. John "Will” Banks is a board-certified psychiatrist who completed his General Psychiatry residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. During his residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital, Dr. Banks was selected by faculty to serve as an administrative chief resident based on his leadership qualities and integrity. He received numerous awards during his residency training including the Excellence in Compassionate Care Award, Academic Achievement Award, and Harold Pass Excellence in Psychotherapy Award. He also served as an Outpatient Senior Resident to help junior residents acclimate to the outpatient treatment setting and telehealth format. Dr. Banks implements an integrative approach to his practice that primarily utilizes medication management and various psychotherapy disciplines such as cognitive-behavioral, supportive, and psychodynamic techniques. While Dr. Banks is trained in a variety of therapeutic fields, he works collaboratively with therapists and may recommend their inclusion as part of your treatment team to provide you with the level of care you deserve. The duration of follow-up appointments with Dr. Banks is typically 20-30 minutes. He received his master's degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX. He then completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Seton Hill in Greensburg, PA where he served as president of his medical school's chapter of Sigma Sigma Phi Honorary Service Fraternity and co-founder of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Campus Club. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Banks completed his residency training in General Psychiatry at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY.

Dr. Rodriguez is a board-certified adult psychiatrist, who is also fluent in Spanish. He completed residency at North Florida Regional in Gainesville via the University of Central Florida, where he also served as chief resident for education. He received his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tennessee. He also holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of South Florida, in Tampa.

Dr. Rodriguez has worked with a wide array of patients across various medical settings and has experience treating patients with psychiatric illness who may also be suffering from medical comorbidities, such as obesity, hypertension, pain, and diabetes. He has been deeply involved with teaching and emphasizes psychoeducation while working in collaboration with his patients to help tailor their personalized treatment plan. His primary focus has been on treating adults with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, OCD and PTSD.

Dr. Rodriguez has an approachable, patient-centered style, combined with a passion for optimizing sleep as it pertains to management of a psychiatric illness and overall well-being. Dr. Katelyn Thompson is board certified in Adult Psychiatry.

Dr. Anthony Finch is a graduate of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center General Psychiatry residency and the Duke University Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship programs; he is board certified in Psychiatry by the ABPN. Dr. Finch was born and raised in New York and now lives in North Carolina. Dr. Finch specializes both in psychiatric medication management and various forms of psychotherapy. He believes that effective psychiatric treatment requires attention to multiple domains, including the establishment of a strong doctor/patient relationship, the development of a sound understanding of who the patient is as an individual, and a comprehensive assessment of spiritual and biological factors contributing to mental health. As such, Dr. Finch's practice includes both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions that aim to treat the whole person on an individualized basis. He sees patients of all ages, specializing in older adults, and treats all psychiatric conditions. Dr. Finch received the 2023 Distinguished House Staff Award from the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council; this is awarded to one graduating house staff member from each department annually for excellence during training. He has conducted research on depression and PTSD, published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented posters at conferences, and written a chapter for a book on medical education. He practices in both English and German.

Dr. Michael Lukowski is an adult psychiatrist who holds board certification with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been practicing medicine for over 12 years. Dr. Lukowski focuses on medication management combined with supportive therapy during initial and follow-up visits. He practices whole-person medicine, caring for the wellness of your mind, body, and spirit and helping you enjoy your relationships with those around you.

Dr. Lukowski received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, NV, before moving to southern California to complete his residency at Loma Linda University. After completing training, Dr. Lukowski began working with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Riverside, CA, where he treated a variety of psychiatric disorders in an outpatient setting.

In March of 2020, as the pandemic changed life and medicine forever, Dr. Lukowski adopted a strictly telepsychiatry role at his clinic. He has also held a staff psychiatrist position as an adult inpatient psychiatrist in Tennessee. Dr. Lukowski treats a wide variety of psychiatric disorders within the adult demographic.

Dr. Parker Loy holds the position of Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry. After finishing undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, he completed the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Master of Science program before enrolling in medical school at the same institution. After graduating from medical school, he completed his residency at UTHSC, during which he trained in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings and treated a broad spectrum of mental health conditions. He enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions, including mood and anxiety disorders. Therapeutic techniques are incorporated into medication management visits when indicated, and collaboration with therapists may also be recommended.

Dr. Dodd, a Board-Certified psychiatrist, graduated from the University of Georgia Honors Program with a B.S. in Chemistry, and earned her M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia. During her psychiatry residency in Greenville, SC, she was chief resident and gained extensive experience through moonlighting. She joined the faculty of Gateway’s Savannah residency program in 2021, where she served as Assistant Program Director, and continues to teach residents and students as an Assistant Professor at Mercer University and the Medical College of Georgia. In her community psychiatry practice, she specialized in Assertive Community Treatment, worked with First Episode Psychosis programs, a forensic Diversion-Reentry clinic, telehealth, and outpatient psychiatry, particularly serving graduate students, professionals, and their families in the Savannah area.

Dr. Lauren McClairen is a psychiatrist board certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. She completed her medical and psychiatric training at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and a fellowship in Addiction Medicine at Baptist Memorial Hospital in collaboration with IAC (Integrated Addiction Care) in Memphis, TN. Dr. McClairen has clinical experience and practice working with other specialties and disciplines in treatment teams and integrated care models both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. She has held an academic appointment at Baptist Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed teaching and supervising medical residents and fellows in training. She most recently served as the Regional Behavioral Health Medical Director for a group of mental health clinics throughout Tennessee, and as the Chief of Psychiatric Services for a residential treatment facility in Mississippi that also had Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programming (PHP/IOP). She is experienced in treating patients with a variety of mental health diagnoses including but not limited to depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and those with a history of substance use disorders. Dr. McClairen works collaboratively with her patients to provide treatments tailored to each patient's individualized needs. She prioritizes building trusting relationships and fostering open communication. Patients can expect a compassionate approach often with utilization of supportive therapy, mindfulness, and at times cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy techniques to address their psychosocial stressors and unique needs.

Dr. Mustafa Taquee is a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, he completed his medical degree at Oakland University William Beaumont in Rochester, MI. He is a graduate of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI. As a testament to Dr. Taquee's desire to help patients reach their full potential, he has also completed a psychotherapy fellowship through the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Taquee believes that every patient brings their own mosaic of experiences embedded in a unique story. He understands that building a strong therapeutic relationship through empathy, compassion, trust, and respect is essential. He enjoys taking time to understand his patient's goals, offer psychoeducation, and create a collaborative plan for treatment with the patient. He believes in a holistic approach to mental health treatment, which includes medication management, supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, as well as mind-body medicine techniques. Dr. S. Taylor Williams is a psychiatrist with Talkiatry. She is board-certified in psychiatry and has been practicing over 14 years. Dr. Williams received her MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at UAB. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Prior to joining Talkiatry, she held an academic appointment at UTHSC as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and was the Clinical Director of the Memphis Mental Health Institute. She specializes in the treatment of young adults and LGBTQ patients. Her practice focuses on medication management.‍

Dr. Phelps is a board-eligible adult psychiatrist. She was elected chief resident by her residency program at the University of Central Florida. She obtained her medical degree at Nova Southeastern University. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University. Dr. Phelps believes in patient-centered care and a holistic approach to medicine. Her practice focuses on medication management, in conjunction with supportive therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. If additional therapy is needed, she utilizes referrals to psychotherapists to enhance management of mental illness and provide the best treatment outcomes. Dr. John Hendrick is a practicing psychiatrist who has recently served as medical director for clinical services at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. After several years of private practice, he had served as Chief of Inpatient Psychiatric Services and then as Chief of Psychiatry at Mountain Home VA Medical Center. During his time at Mountain Home VA he was also a Professor of Psychiatry at Quillen Medical School at East Tennessee State University where he taught General Psychiatry courses and the Neurosciences of Psychiatry. His specialties include affective and anxiety disorders and he has specific expertise in neuropsychiatry, psychopharmacology and alternative treatments for affective disorders. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and is a Past President of both the Tennessee Psychiatric Association and the Southern Psychiatric Association. He has been awarded a Distinguished Service Award from the United States Public Health Service. He has been twice named the Outstanding Teacher Award from the ETSU Psychiatry Residency program and was awarded Course Director of the year for the Neurosciences residency course he developed. He holds an Irma J. Bland Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Education from the APA. He has an extensive psychiatric background in practice and as a teacher. He practices psychotherapy from an Eriksonian perspective and is well versed in individual and psychodynamic psychotherapies.

Dr. Wilt is board certified in adult psychiatry. She earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University in New Orleans, where she also completed her four-year residency in psychiatry. Dr. Wilt takes a biopsychosocial approach to mental health and has over 13 years of experience with an array of mental health diagnoses including Depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and sleep disorders. Dr. Wilt enjoys spending time getting to know her patients and working hand in hand with them to accurately diagnose and treat the symptoms they are experiencing. Dr. Wilt employs a holistic approach to mental health with a focus on incorporating medication management and supportive therapy to improve her patients' quality of life.‍

Dr. Osamudiamen Osa-Edoh is board-certified in general adult psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Benin in Nigeria and completed his psychiatry residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he served as Chief Resident and received multiple honors. He previously served as Medical Director at Sumner Regional Hospital and Assistant Professor at Meharry Medical College.

She has been caring for children and adolescents as a physician for more than 15 years. Dr. Bartek's approach is holistic, collaborative, supportive, and patient-centered. Dr. Bartek draws on her years as a pediatrician working with families and children in her work as a psychiatrist. Dr. Bartek incorporates therapeutic techniques into medication management visits, but she may also recommend adding a therapist to your care team for the best results. She received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA, before moving to Memphis to complete her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. After completing training, she remained in Memphis and worked in the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital Emergency Department as a pediatrician. Dr. Bartek transitioned to primary care pediatrics at Pediatric Associates of Davidson County for several years before returning to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis to complete the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Post-Pediatric Portal Fellowship program. Dr. Bartek's primary clinical focus is treating children and adolescents.

Dr. Arballo is board-certified psychiatrist who completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received residency training at University of Texas Health - San Antonio where in addition to clinical training was appointed resident chair of the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committee.

Since graduation he has been a staff psychiatrist and the military unit director at Cumberland Hall Hospital providing comprehensive care to child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Dr. Arballo provides evidence-based medication management and psychotherapy to address mental health conditions. He is a strong advocate for patient autonomy, quality improvement and psychoeducation.

Dr. Lauren Morris is a board-certified psychiatrist and a graduate of the Duke Psychiatry residency program. She is originally from NC - she studied Neuroscience at NCSU, and attended medical school at ECU. Dr. Morris's practice focuses on medication management, and incorporates insight-oriented therapy during visits. Dr. Morris takes a patient-centered evidenced based approach to psychiatry. Dr. Morris is joining the Talkiatry team after working as a staff psychiatrist at the Durham VA, where she also served as a consulting professor for the Duke psychiatry residency program. Dr. Kerry O'Leary is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who joined Talkiatry after she completed her psychiatry residency. Dr. O'Leary provides patient-centered care and understands the importance of actively involving patients in their treatment journey. She believes that every patient deserves personalized care tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. She utilizes evidence-based treatments combined with a comprehensive approach to address not only the symptoms but also the underlying factors contributing to her patients' distress. Although her practice focuses on medication management, she also provides supportive therapy and may recommend more intensive therapy when indicated. Dr. O'Leary approaches each patient with empathy and understanding, fostering a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. Dr. Carolyn Benson has 21 years of experience in treating adults, adolescents, and children. After graduating medical school at Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina, she moved to Rochester, NY to complete her residency and fellowship at University of Rochester School of Medicine. Her focus over the last ten years has been on working with young adults, children/adolescents, and their families. Her expertise covers a wide array of therapeutic modalities and mental health diagnoses. The primary focus of her sessions is to provide medication management with education on treatment options. She will provide therapy models that are appropriate within that 20�30 minute medication session. If longer therapy time frames are indicated, she will discuss the need to add a therapist to your treatment team to achieve optimal care. Her successful treatment outcomes are based on experience, staying current on psychiatric treatments, and having open communication with patients and families of children/adolescents so they can choose the most effective treatments. Prior to medical school, she worked in both marine and biochemical research venues and was coauthor in several research papers. She has an avid interest in the emerging field of neuroscience and frequently gives talks to colleagues and students on current research topics. Her primary objectives in her work are to help patients achieve success in both treatment and life goals and to always take time to truly listen to her patients.

Dr. John Lundeen earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his psychiatry residency at TriStar Centennial Medical Center. He has worked with adults of all ages in both outpatient and inpatient settings, bringing a wide range of experience to his practice.

Dr. Lundeen approaches every patient with respect, empathy, and a genuine desire to understand their unique experience. He recognizes that seeking treatment can be intimidating and strives to create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where patients feel safe and heard.

Dr. Steven Wilkening is a board-certified adult psychiatrist.He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Cornell University followed by a neuroscience researchfocused Masters degree at the University of Mississippi. He then attended medical school at theUniversity of Mississippi School of Medicine, graduating with his MD degree as a Medical StudentResearch Scholar and member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed adultpsychiatry residency training at the University of Cincinnati and has since been working primarily intelepsychiatry.He has experience treating a wide variety of psychiatric conditions and also recognizes that lifestylefactors such as sleep, physical activity and stress-reduction are foundations of good mental health.Alongside medication management, he provides brief supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, aswell as elements of cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies to assist patients in meetingtheir goals. He often encourages patients to see a therapist in addition to a psychiatrist.

Dr. Pilar Bare is an adult psychiatrist who completed her psychiatry residency at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where she served as Chief Resident. She earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest in Oregon, where she studied osteopathic medicine which shaped her holistic view of health. She completed an intern year in Family Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences West. She holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from the University of Arkansas, where she graduated with honors.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, visiting national parks, and spending time with her senior dog.

Dr. Stephanie Negrey is a board certified psychiatrist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and History at Fordham University in the Bronx and then attended medical school at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. She completed her residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio as a member of the United States Air Force. Dr. Negrey served as an active duty psychiatrist; her duties included medical director of the mental health clinic at a special operations base as well as a program manager for the Air Force substance use program.

Dr. Negrey has experience treating a wide range of ages and diagnoses, with particular emphasis on personality disorders, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. She integrates supportive and psychodynamic therapies into her medication management appointments with a goal of achieving improvement through a holistic approach. Dr. Negrey will work with patients to reach their goals for their mental health care while also providing a compassionate and collaborative environment.

Dr. Georgia Gaveras holds the position of Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Talkiatry. She is triple board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and addiction medicine. She has been practicing for over 18 years. Dr. Gaveras's practice focuses on medication management. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. However, occasionally Dr. Gaveras may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME, before moving back to NY to complete her residency at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. After completing training, she remained and worked with dually-diagnosed adolescents at the Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Education Service (CARES) before becoming the Director of Training and Education for the Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals. She was then the associate director of child and adolescent emergency psychiatry at Cohen Children's Medical Center before becoming the Director of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Gaveras has held academic appointments at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Zucker School of Medicine, and SUNY Downstate Medical College. In addition, she has appeared in numerous professional publications and authored several research papers. In addition to general, child, and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Gaveras is also board-certified in addiction medicine and trained in the Eating Disorders, Compulsions and Addictions Service (EDCAS) program at the William Alanson White Institute. She completed her undergraduate studies at New York University. While having treated a wide variety of patients, her primary clinical focus has been in treating adolescents and young adults with co-occurring substance use disorders.

Dr. Scot McKay is board certified in Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. He graduated medical school from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He completed his residency and child/adolescent fellowship trainings at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Center in Denver, CO. Previously, he has worked on the inpatient and partial hospitalization child/adolescent psychiatric units at Children's Hospital Colorado as well as in the school-based health clinics through Denver Health in partnership with Denver Public Schools. Dr. Valerstain has had the opportunity of working with a diverse array of patients including children, adolescents, the severely mentally ill, veterans, and cancer patients across three distinct hospital systems. Dr. Valerstain has had varied clinical experiences in specialty inpatient psychiatry units, emergency psychiatry, consultation liaison psychiatry, psycho-oncology, and outpatient clinics via telemedicine and face to face interactions. Dr. Varela received his medical degree and general psychiatric residency training both from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in West Texas. He treats young adults and adults with a wide variety of mental health concerns, including ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.

Dr. Caleb Cheatham is a board-certified psychiatrist who completed his undergraduate studies at Stetson University in DeLand, FL, before earning his medical degree and completing his psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. He brings a strong foundation in psychopharmacology and a deep commitment to person-centered care.

Dr. Amouri's practice focuses on medication management, which she offers in conjunction with psychotherapeutic interventions in her follow-up visits. Dr. Amouri received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine. Dr. Batson is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 20 years. At the heart of Dr. Batson's approach to clinical care is a deep understanding, both professionally and personally, of the effects of trauma and stress on our brains, our bodies and our lived experience. She helps every patient understand the events that have led them to where they are and to find the path to recovery for strength and healing. While Dr. Batson's professional career has spanned the breadth of mental health care, she specializes in helping patients who suffer from the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviors, phobias and depressive disorders. Dr. Lee Dockery is a general psychiatry provider who joined Talkiatry in August 2022. He is board-eligible with expected certification in fall 2022, with further addiction psychiatry board-certification expected in 2023. He has been training and practicing psychiatry since 2018. Dr. Dockery's practice emphasizes medication management within a therapy-informed framework, utilizing skills from Acceptance and Commitment therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, motivation interviewing, and supportive therapy. He typically offers 60-minute new visits and 30-minute follow-up visits. Dr. Dockery received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2014. He then moved to Nashville, TN to complete his general psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident of inpatient services. He expects to complete the addiction psychiatry fellowship in spring 2023 .Dr. Dockery has experience treating most general adult psychiatry complaints, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders. He has a particular focus in the treatment of young adults, and co-occurring mood disorders and substance use disorders.‍

Dr. Anthony Miles Morris is an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist and attending physician. He completed his MD at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and psychiatry residency at OUHSC, serving as Chief Resident during his PGY-III and PGY-IV years. Dr. Morris provided psychiatric care for veterans at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, supervising and educating residents, training psychiatric nurse practitioners, and managing outpatient, inpatient, consult, liaison, and primary care mental health integration settings.

He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis and a general psychiatry residency in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Stone has worked in academic medical centers, public schools, state hospitals, a transgender health clinic, and a residential eating disorder center. He is experienced in caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals and underserved rural communities.

Dr. Stone offers a friendly, nonjudgmental space where patients feel supported and empowered. His collaborative style emphasizes respect, transparency, and shared decision-making. He is especially passionate about helping people navigate stress, build self-esteem, and develop healthy relationships. Dr. Ryan Rasmus Harris (she/her) is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in caring for adults. Her educational journey began at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA and completed residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. After completing her training, she joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine and gained valuable experience providing outpatient psychiatric care that was evidence-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in the principles of cultural humility.

Dr. Harris believes effective mental health care begins with a genuine connection and strives to foster this connection by listening attentively to each person’s unique experiences, understanding their personal challenges, and working collaboratively to develop a tailored treatment plan that meets their needs. Treatment plans often include a combination of lifestyle modifications, therapy, and medication, when indicated. She incorporates CBT, supportive therapy, and psychoeducation into her medication management appointments and may refer patients for additional psychotherapy to improve outcomes. Dr. Hornbaker-Park received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College, with a dual major in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Neuroscience. After receiving a Health Professions Scholarship from the Army, she obtained her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She went on to enter active duty military service and complete General Psychiatry residency training and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training at Tripler Army Medical Center before completing active duty service as a staff psychiatrist and 101st Airborne Division psychiatrist at Fort Campbell, KY. There she cared for active duty service members and their families to manage depression, anxiety, trauma, and the unique stressors of military service. She later transitioned to federal civilian service and served as a preceptor for Phase II Physician Assistant trainees and Army Social Work interns, reinforcing a passion for education that carried her to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). During her time at WRNMMC, she served in several roles including Deputy Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry, core faculty for the National Capital Consortium Psychiatry Residency Program, Associate Program Director, and associate faculty at the Uniform Services University for Health Sciences (USUHS). Dr. Angela Shields is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience. Dr. Ramnaraine is pro-therapy and believes the best outcome in treatment is when therapy and medication modalities are combined. Dr. Ramnaraine was born and raised in NYC. She completed her undergraduate training and first two years of medical school through the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education located on the CUNY campus in Manhattan, NY. She completed her remaining years of medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn, NY, earning her medical degree (MD). Dr. Ramnaraine then migrated to Gainesville, FL, where she completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Florida. She practiced outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry in Florida, seeing patients as well as serving as the site supervisor for the Child Psychiatry fellows during their community mental health rotation at Meridian Behavioral Health Center, which allowed for experience with treating under-served populations; she also served as the supervising psychiatrist for the CAT team (community outreach program to help youths at risk of being removed from their homes and their families through medication management and intensive in home therapy). In June 2019, Dr. Ramnaraine migrated to Tennessee and there she joined Erlanger Behavioral Health as a staff psychiatrist working to establish the child and adolescent inpatient unit and later becoming the Medical Director of the Child and Adolescent inpatient unit in 2021. In addition to working as a psychiatrist at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital, she also was the Medical Director of Village Behavioral Health, a residential program for youths struggling with mental illness and/or substance use that is located in Louisville, TN (located near Knoxville) from June 2019 to August 2021. Dr. Akshar Brahmbhatt, DO, attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he majored in Economics before earning his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He has experience in both inpatient and outpatient care and brings expertise in ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, bipolar depression, OCD, and a wide range of psychiatric conditions.

Edmund Clark, MD, serves as Chief Psychiatrist at Talkiatry with over 17 years of board-certified experience, including more than 5 years delivering tele-psychiatric care to underserved areas. His career spans 23 years in public service, including leadership roles as Chief of the VA Mental Health Clinics in Jacksonville, FL, and program manager for the University of Florida’s Psychiatry Residency Training Program. A former U.S. Navy psychiatrist, he deployed multiple times, including to Iraq in support of an Army Combat Stress Control clinic, gaining expertise in evidence-based PTSD treatments. Dr. Clark earned his medical degree from the University of Florida and completed his psychiatry residency at the National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed, serving as chief resident for over 50 military trainees. Before medicine, he served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Kenya.

She has served as an active US Army officer and recently separated from the US Army after 11 years of service. In her most recent role, she served as the Deputy Chief of the Department of Behavioral Health at Fort Campbell, KY where she provided clinical and administrative supervision, as well as mentorship and guidance for an interdisciplinary team of over 140 personnel. She maintained oversight of behavioral health care being delivered through 11 clinics and satellite locations, providing patient care for over 30,000 beneficiaries. While in leadership, she continued to provide direct patient care for service members and dependents including child and adolescent populations. Dr. Holley provides supportive, cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and psychodynamic therapy skills that complement medication management in order to help improve wellness.

Dr. James “Jim” Staudenmeier is a physician with a distinguished career in military and civilian psychiatry. A retired Colonel in the U.S. Army, he has served as a plenary and invited speaker at national and international conferences on topics including addiction, electroconvulsive therapy, hypnotherapy, and quality improvement. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive, holds a master’s degree in preventive medicine and biometrics, and has published in peer-reviewed journals. His clinical background includes pain management, addiction psychiatry, child and adult psychiatry, and academic appointments at multiple universities.

Dr. Staudenmeier values collaboration and encourages patients to ask questions, clarify expectations, and identify their primary concerns from the start. While medication management is part of care, he emphasizes insight, goal setting, and skill building. He integrates hypnotherapy, guided imagery, relaxation, and meditation to support wellness, pain management, sleep, anxiety, and addiction, tailoring treatment to each patient’s needs.

Dr. Staudenmeier takes a flexible, whole-person approach, combining medication management with evidence-based therapies such as CBT, CPT, motivational interviewing, and family-based interventions. He works comfortably with children, adults, families, service members, Veterans, and individuals facing life transitions, including end-of-life concerns. His goal is to help patients develop practical tools for lasting mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Dr. Kaur is an adult psychiatrist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. She completed her undergraduate studies in Exercise Science and Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts. Dr. Kaur completed her transitional year residency at Coliseum Medical Center/Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, with focused training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Neurology. She then pursued her general adult psychiatry residency at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Ohio. She further specialized by completing a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, with emphasis on psycho-oncology, women’s mental health, and Med-Psych.

Dr. Kaur is passionate about delivering thoughtful and comprehensive care for individuals experiencing depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, bipolar spectrum disorders, ADHD, anxiety, stress and adjustment difficulties, insomnia, and maternal mental health conditions. Her clinical approach incorporates recognized and effective treatment modalities, including neuropsychopharmacology and neuroimaging. She has extensive experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, older adults, the LGBTQ community, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Central to Dr. Kaur’s practice is the belief that empathy and understanding form the foundation of an effective therapeutic relationship. She views each patient as a whole person, shaped by interconnected mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social, and environmental factors. With a holistic, patient-centered philosophy, she aims to support healing at every level to help individuals achieve and maintain optimal well-being.

Dr. Kaur is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi.

Dr. Alicia Garcete is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist in practice for over 12 years. Her practice focuses on medication management, recognizing  family involvement is extremely important and is an integral part of treatment. Dr Garcete has treated a wide variety of patients. Her primary focus is treating depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD and OCD. Additionally, she can provide supportive therapy and elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy but on occasions more therapy support may be needed, and the recommendation to bring a psychotherapist on the care team may occur to provide an optimal outcome. Dr. Garcete is bilingual and provides care in both Spanish and English.

Prior to Talkiatry, Dr Garcete treated children, adolescents, and adults was at the intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization levels of care with focus on behavioral approaches in the Depression recovery and Anxiety/OCD programs.

Dr. Garcete earned her Medical Degree from the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Paraguay. She completed her general psychiatrist residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York. She was also a Fellow in Psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Institute, Affiliate to New York University School of Medicine, and completed her child and adolescent psychiatrist fellowship at Elmhurst Hospital Center, affiliate to Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Garcete also held a clinical assistant professor appointment from the department of psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Darius Robinson is a board-certified psychiatrist who is passionate about providing patient-centered, evidence-based mental health care. He specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Robinson combines evidence-based medication management with supportive psychotherapy to help his patients thrive. Dr. Robinson earned his undergraduate degree from Southern University at New Orleans. He later completed a Master's of Medical Science degree at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. He went on to obtain his medical degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport and completed his psychiatry residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. Dr. Robinson is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee, and Kansas. Dr. Robinson believes in fostering a collaborative approach to care, partnering with his patients to create tailored treatment plans that honor their unique needs and goals.
