Dr. Victoria Pan, MD
I specialize in medication management for adults with a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, bipolar, depression, insomnia, and PTSD/trauma-related disorders. Medication treatment may be complemented with elements of supportive psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I work collaboratively with patients to develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to their unique needs. If further psychotherapy is needed, I may recommend working with a therapist as well.
I am a board-certified psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience. I hold a Doctor of Medicine degree from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed my medical specialty training in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have served as faculty at UT Southwestern, teaching medical students and mentoring psychiatry residents. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Asking for help can be difficult, especially when it comes to mental health. During the first visit, patients can expect a welcoming space where they can share their concerns. The visit will also focus on a psychiatric evaluation covering symptom details, psychiatric and other medical history, prior treatments, and how the current symptoms affect the person as a whole.

Dr. Yolan Shaw, MD
I create a warm, supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and respected. I value open communication and believe in working collaboratively with patients to establish clear, achievable treatment goals that reflect their individual needs and preferences. I begin the treatment process by thoroughly understanding each patient's history, concerns, and goals during the initial session. From there, I develop an individualized treatment plan designed to align with those goals and support meaningful progress over time.
I earned my medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and completed my psychiatry residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. I have experience in both outpatient and inpatient care through my work at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX, where I served veterans and caregivers. As a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine, I also taught and supervised medical students and residents.

Dr. Zafar Zaidi, MD
My goal when working with patients is to not come to a generic diagnosis; rather, it is to get to know about the client and try and manage their symptoms in the best way possible. Overall, the process is collaborative, and both parties need to be comfortable with the decisions moving forward. I enjoy getting to learn about patients and working collaboratively to provide the best treatment possible, be it medications or talk therapy. I have vast experience treating Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, among many others.
I graduated residency from University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in 2015. After residency, I worked at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center as a staff psychiatrist. I eventually took on the role of Mental Health Lead Psychiatrist and Interim Clinic Director at the Tomball VA Outpatient Clinic. I then transferred to a telepsychiatry role at VISN 15, providing mental health coverage for rural areas in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois. I have over 15 years of experience in treating different mental health conditions and am currently board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
I reside in Houston, Texas and enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and watching/playing sports such as Football, Basketball, and Soccer.

Find a psychiatrist in Texas

Many patients get their first visit within days rather than waiting months for a local opening.
How online psychiatry works in Texas
You start with a short online assessment, then get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in Texas based on your needs. Visits happen by secure video from home, so there is no commute and no waiting room. Your first appointment lasts 60 minutes, which gives you time to talk through your symptoms, ask questions, and build a treatment plan with your psychiatrist. Follow-ups are usually about 30 minutes. Your psychiatrist has to be licensed where you are during the visit, so you can meet with a Texas-licensed doctor whether you live in Houston, El Paso, or a small town in between.
What a psychiatrist in Texas can help with
An online psychiatrist in Texas can help with a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Psychiatrists are medical doctors, so they can evaluate your symptoms, prescribe medication, and manage it over time. Medication is one possible part of a plan, not an automatic result of a visit. Depending on your needs, your psychiatrist may also recommend therapy as part of your care. The goal is a plan built around you, not a one-size-fits-all script.
Does insurance cover a psychiatrist in Texas?
Talkiatry is in-network with major insurers, so you can use your mental health benefits for online care. You check your coverage during the free assessment, before you ever schedule a visit, so there are no surprises. What you pay out of pocket depends on your specific plan, so it is a good idea to confirm the details with your insurer.
Getting mental health care in Texas
Finding a psychiatrist in Texas is genuinely hard for a lot of people, and the numbers show why. Texas has 393 designated mental health Health Professional Shortage Areas covering about 13.44 million people, and only about 32.2% of the need for psychiatric care is currently met. The federal government estimates it would take about 606 more practitioners to lift those shortage designations (according to KFF as of 12/31/25). For you, that shortage often means long waits or a drive to another town. Online psychiatry helps by connecting you with a licensed psychiatrist anywhere in Texas, rather than limiting you to the few providers near your home.
