Biography
Joe Weaver is a doctoral-prepared, board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over a decade of experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. He began his career on a consultant-liaison psychiatric team at an acute care medical center, where he spent five years treating complex cases involving medical, neurologic, and pharmacologic factors. He later transitioned to outpatient psychiatry, developing expertise in PTSD, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, and neurodivergent conditions. Joe also served as a combat stress officer in the U.S. Army Reserves and has educated others on the intersection of medicine and psychiatry throughout his clinical and military career.
Joe takes an integrative, whole-person approach to care that considers both mental and physical health. He incorporates mindfulness, meditation techniques, and an understanding of the mind-body connection into treatment while helping patients recognize how stress physiology and negative thought patterns impact well-being. He also uses pharmacogenomic testing when appropriate to guide medication decisions. Patients can expect a warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard and empowered.
Joe begins with a comprehensive evaluation to understand each patient’s history, current concerns, goals, and values. He uses evidence-based tools and, when appropriate, metabolic and pharmacogenomic analysis to support safe medication management. Together, he collaborates with patients to create individualized treatment plans that evolve as their needs and goals change.
