Biography
Alicia Olson, PMHNP, earned her BSN from Winona State University in Minnesota and her MSN from the University of North Dakota. She has experience in inpatient care as both a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, and more recently in outpatient primary care and private practice. Alicia has additional training in nutritional and metabolic psychiatry, which informs her holistic approach to mental health care.
Alicia takes a conversational approach, focusing on understanding patients as whole people rather than just symptoms. She integrates supportive therapy into every session and refers for deeper therapeutic work when needed. She values authenticity and recognizes that seeking help can be challenging. Alicia emphasizes the role of nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise in overall mental and physical well-being.
Alicia begins by getting to know each patient and the factors affecting their life. She practices a “less is more” approach to prescribing, sometimes helping patients reduce or discontinue unnecessary medications. Alicia collaborates with patients to set goals and works toward them using a combination of medication management and behavioral strategies.
