Biography
Nan MacLean is a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) committed to delivering evidence-based, person-centered care. She holds degrees in Biochemistry, Biology, Nursing, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a registered nurse in acute inpatient psychiatry, addiction medicine, and correctional healthcare. Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and shaped by growing up in two cultures, she brings cultural sensitivity and respect to every patient relationship.
Nan believes healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. She combines psychiatric expertise with trauma-informed care and incorporates elements of functional medicine and somatic approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and EMDR-informed principles. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
Nan begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to understand each patient's history, concerns, and goals. She uses thoughtful differential diagnosis to identify contributing factors and partners with patients to create personalized treatment plans. Through ongoing collaboration and open communication, she adapts care over time to support meaningful, lasting progress.
