I am a strong advocate of collaboration between psychiatric care and psychotherapeutic interventions and encourage the utilization of therapists and counselors. I provide psychiatric assessments and medication management along with brief supportive psychotherapy. I specialize in the treatment of children with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, ADHD, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and I have an extensive history of providing care for both the adult and child population.

I am board-certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I hold a bachelor's degree in Chemistry Pre-med from Florida A & M University and a Medical Degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. I completed both my residency in General Psychiatry and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Virginia.

I have over 20 years of experience practicing medicine in outpatient, acute, and residential settings. I formally served as Chief of Behavioral Health Services at Ft. Eustis, Virginia. I have previously provided acute care and residential treatment at Newport News Behavioral Health Center, outpatient services in the community, and the foster care system. I have recently served as medical director of Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center.

I am a board-certified General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over nine years of experience. My practice focuses on medication management, which is founded not only on evidence-based medicine but also on the understanding that a trusting therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of behavioral health healing. I incorporate CBT, supportive therapy, and psychoeducation into my medication management appointments and may refer patients for additional psychotherapy to improve outcomes. I believe a whole-person approach with open, collaborative teamwork is the key to progress.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College, with a dual major in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and Neuroscience. After receiving a Health Professions Scholarship from the Army, I obtained my medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. I went on to enter active duty military service and complete General Psychiatry residency training and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training at Tripler Army Medical Center before completing active duty service as a staff psychiatrist and 101st Airborne Division psychiatrist at Fort Campbell, KY. There I cared for active duty service members and their families to manage depression, anxiety, trauma, and the unique stressors of military service.

I later transitioned to federal civilian service and served as a preceptor for Phase II Physician Assistant trainees and Army Social Work interns, reinforcing a passion for education that carried me to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). During my time at WRNMMC, I served in several roles including Deputy Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry, core faculty for the National Capital Consortium Psychiatry Residency Program, Associate Program Director, and associate faculty at the Uniform Services University for Health Sciences (USUHS). Prior to transitioning out of federal service to join Talkiatry, I was repeatedly recognized for excellence in academics and mentorship and received multiple teaching awards. This zeal for education and mentorship, as well as humility, personal growth, and learning, translates directly into my philosophy for patient care.

I have years of experience treating depression, anxiety and panic attacks, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and OCD. Most recently, I worked for Life Stance Health, an outpatient telehealth company, where I treated patients between the ages of 18–65 with both medication management and therapeutic interventions.

I am board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Adult Psychiatry. I completed my psychiatry residency training at Howard University Hospital and Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC, where I was voted Chief Resident. I went on to serve as Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Adventist HealthCare in Maryland, where I worked in both an administrative and clinical role treating adults in inpatient settings. Additionally, I served as a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University School of Medicine, teaching medical students about the art of medicine. I received my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and my medical degree from Xavier University School of Medicine.

I greatly value connecting with my patients. I am gentle yet direct in my approach and use a shared decision-making process to design a treatment plan that aligns with my patients' goals. I provide psychoeducation for diagnoses and medication recommendations, and I appreciate a family-based approach. I have a special interest in ADHD and trauma. I use a comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation, psychotherapy, and medication management to treat a variety of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and ADHD, and I promote non-pharmaceutical interventions, when appropriate, with patient-oriented lifestyle and behavioral modifications.

I am a native Marylander who recently completed my fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the University of Maryland. I completed my residency in general psychiatry in San Antonio, Texas and am a Board Certified Psychiatrist. Prior to training, I attended medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York. I also hold a master's in biomedical science from Rutgers University in New Jersey and a bachelor's in public health from the University of Maryland. I serve on the Early Career Psychiatrist Committee for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists of Greater Washington Area.

I have worked in various settings, ranging from academic centers, schools, state hospitals, and residential treatment centers. I also provided medication management and therapy to Medicaid patients in an outpatient setting, delivering care to children and adolescents with various mental health disorders. I have experience in Emergency Psychiatry as well.

My practice focuses on medication management. I work to foster a safe and collaborative space in which patients can address psychiatric illness and other barriers holding them back from the lives they want to lead. Typically, I offer appointments for medication management coupled with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute sessions. When I feel that additional therapy is needed, I will suggest inviting a therapist to join the team for additional support and guidance. I welcome collaborations with other clinicians, be they therapists or other physicians caring for my patients. I am a board-certified psychiatrist. Before joining Talkiatry, I practiced consult-liaison psychiatry, seeing medically ill patients with psychiatric problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I also treated veterans in nursing homes. I graduated from New York University with a B.A. in philosophy and photography and worked in nonprofit marketing in New York before deciding to pursue a life in medicine. Following a post-baccalaureate, pre-medical program at Columbia University, I completed medical school at The University of Maryland, followed by a psychiatry residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. While at Johns Hopkins, I mastered clinical assessment and treatment of general psychiatric problems. I also received specialized training in eating disorders, addiction, reproductive psychiatry, chronic pain, and geriatric psychiatry, an interest I pursued further with a fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In fellowship and in my subsequent experience at the VA, I developed expertise in caring for the difficulties that can accompany aging, including depression, anxiety, and memory loss, as well as the stress of medical illness. In addition to my background in geriatrics, I have experience working with peripartum women and enjoy working with patients navigating major life changes.

I am a board-certified General Psychiatrist and board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. In addition to medication management, I also provide supportive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques during appointments. I received my medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia/VCU in Richmond, Virginia. I then traveled to Greenville, South Carolina, where I completed a General Psychiatry residency at Greenville Health System/PRISMA Health, and then returned to Virginia to complete a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at The Virginia Treatment Center for Children/VCU Health System. I completed my undergraduate training at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, where I studied psychology and elementary education. Prior to entering medical school, I was a licensed elementary school teacher in Virginia, where I served children of various learning styles and needs.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience treating patients across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and telepsychiatry settings. I earned my medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, completed my psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, and hold a B.S. from Xavier University of Louisiana. I previously served as a Primary Care Mental Health Integration psychiatrist at the Veterans Health Administration, where I helped expand access to care in community-based clinics. I have 20 plus years of experience as a Registered Nurse and almost 10 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. I am licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

I completed my residency at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. I have experience working in private practice at the Institute for Family Therapy in Miami, and have also worked as an outpatient psychiatrist at Montefiore in NY and INOVA outpatient clinic in Virginia.

After my fellowship, I remained in CT for two additional years, working in the Department of Children and Families, serving the state's at-risk youth and adolescents at a psychiatric residential treatment facility. I then returned to West Virginia University as clinical faculty in its School of Medicine. During that 12-year academic appointment, I had active roles in educating, training, and supervising medical students, general psychiatry residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, and trainees from various disciplines. I worked for many years with adolescent males at both the Dually Diagnosed and Specialized Residential Treatment Centers within West Virginia University Healthcare. I provided outpatient and acute inpatient care, as well as hospital-based consultation services. Within the community, I provided medication evaluation and management services to residential treatment facilities and university student health. I have been seeing patients and collaborating with providers through telemedicine since 2016.
