Biography

I earned my medical degree and completed my residency at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. I have experience in outpatient clinic, consult-liaison psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, educational leadership, and hospital administration.

I have a warm, empathetic, and supportive style. I value the uniqueness of each patient’s lived experience. Patients can expect a psychiatrist who provides support, information, and respect.

I begin with the patient telling their own story and identifying places where they want or need some help. We work together to create a plan that meets their specific goals. I provide as much information as possible about treatments, including medications and therapy, so patients can make the best-informed choice about what will work for them.

I believe psychiatry combines science and the art of medicine. I treat both adults and children/adolescents, with expertise in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, addiction, geriatrics, and dual-diagnosis care. I am trained in TMS and ECT, am a Certified Suboxone Prescriber, and offer consultations and treatment through office-based or telemedicine visits. My approach is tailored to each patient's needs, integrating compassionate care with evidence-based treatment.

I acknowledge the many choices patients have in providers and strive to create a welcoming, collaborative, and supportive environment for everyone seeking care. Patients value my professionalism, patience, empathy, and attentive listening.

Before pursuing medicine, I explored a range of passions. After earning dual degrees in Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, I opened a popular Riverside eatery featured on The Food Channel. I later transitioned to the IT industry, earning a master's degree and certifications, before answering my true calling in medicine, graduating from Saint Matthews University School of Medicine.

My practice focuses on medication management. My goals include helping people feel comfortable seeking treatment as well as promoting an understanding of the purpose and reasoning behind the use of various medications to treat psychiatric disorders. Typically, I offer this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. When I believe that additional therapy is also needed, I will ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I appreciate and value working with therapists within the Talkiatry practice and in the community in a collaborative effort to promote wellness. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships with the people I see in my practice. I have interests in pharmacogenomics as well as treatment resistant approaches to depression.
