Biography
Michael Hartenstein is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with experience across inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, and telepsychiatry. He earned his MSN from the University of South Alabama and dual bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Criminology and Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State University of Denver. His healthcare path began as a medic in the U.S. Air Force, followed by work as a residential brain trauma coach. Michael is also certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC).
Michael takes a direct, sincere, and patient-centered approach grounded in open communication and cultural sensitivity. He uses trauma-informed care as a core framework, focusing on the whole person rather than a transactional experience. He prescribes thoughtfully, taking time to understand each patient’s history, symptoms, and goals before determining the most appropriate treatment plan.
Michael begins with a thorough evaluation of clinical history, past treatment, current concerns, and personal goals. He combines evidence-informed medication management with trauma-informed therapeutic support during visits and develops collaborative treatment plans that evolve over time based on each patient’s progress and individual needs.
