Scottie Murphy, MD

Dr. Madeline Morgan completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine. She completed a Pediatrics internship, Psychiatry residency, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at UAB Medical Center, where she served as Chief Fellow from 2024–2025. Dr. Morgan is double board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has cared for children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings and now focuses on outpatient care for children, adolescents, and young adults, with interests in college/graduate student and athlete mental health.

Dr. Grant DeFrancisco attended medical school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. He began residency training in Family Medicine and completed his Psychiatry residency at the University of South Alabama. He has experience across multiple practice settings, including inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, addiction treatment, crisis intervention, and community health centers.

Dr. DeFrancisco uses an open-ended, conversational approach to help patients feel heard, welcomed, and comfortable seeking care. His goal is to understand not only what brings someone to treatment, but also the whole person and the factors that shape their well-being.

Dr. DeFrancisco develops individualized treatment plans based on a holistic understanding of each patient’s history. He tailors care to each person’s strengths and needs, using strategies that may include medication management, lifestyle adjustments, education, and therapeutic techniques.

Dr. Kristin Canterbury is a board-certified physician with experience practicing in outpatient, inpatient, correctional, and addiction treatment settings. She earned her medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at University of South Carolina. Dr. Canterbury is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Canterbury values human connection and person-centered care. She works collaboratively with patients to create individualized treatment plans based on each person’s unique needs, values, and preferences. She strives to create a relaxed, supportive environment where patients feel seen, heard, and respected without judgment.

Dr. Canterbury develops a comprehensive understanding of each patient by considering biological, psychosocial, and spiritual factors. Throughout treatment, she reassesses each patient’s evolving needs and goals to support meaningful and productive care.

Dr. Jacqueline Ann Fenn earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine, where she served as chief resident. She pursued subspecialty training in Reproductive Psychiatry and Clinical Education and completed a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry with experience in transplant and reproductive psychiatry. She also holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Michigan State University and is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Fenn values the mind-body connection and creates holistic treatment plans that may include medication, supportive therapy, and lifestyle changes. She prioritizes building strong rapport and providing a welcoming, collaborative environment. She emphasizes open dialogue and shared decision-making, and may recommend additional therapy when helpful. Deborah Gross, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed her psychiatric residency at the University of Washington. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has extensive experience treating mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, addiction, disordered eating, and personality disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She is also ASAM-certified in addiction medicine and holds a lifetime certificate from the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Gross is the author of a three-book series supporting women with disordered eating.

I have previously served as Chief of Mental Health at a VA Hospital and have maintained a successful private practice focused on medication management and supportive therapy.

I later transitioned to the IT industry, earning a master's degree and certifications, before answering my true calling in medicine, graduating from Saint Matthews University School of Medicine.

I am a double board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who has practiced in a variety of settings, including private, community, and academic medicine. I obtained my medical doctorate and general psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston before completing my child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. I am currently a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine and have authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on pediatric mental health. I am also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and have been on the editorial board of Clinical Psychiatry News.

I approach medication management through the lens of compassionate listening and psychotherapy, seeking to reduce the stigma of mental illness and put patients at ease during their visits. I have experience treating a variety of conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and anxiety. I am a psychiatrist with Talkiatry, licensed to provide care in Ohio, West Virginia, and New York. I completed medical school and psychiatry residency at Marshall University's School of Medicine, and I have additional training in neuropsychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. During my training, I was actively involved in teaching medical students and residents; my most frequent lectures included LGBT and transgender mental health. I have published papers, presented at conferences, and served as an ad-hoc reviewer for medical journals.

I received my doctorate degree in medicine at the University of Florida and completed my residency training at the University of Florida, Department of Psychiatry. I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I have worked mainly in outpatient settings throughout my career.

My goals include helping people feel comfortable seeking treatment as well as promoting an understanding of the purpose and reasoning behind the use of various medications to treat psychiatric disorders. Typically, I offer this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. When I believe that additional therapy is also needed, I will ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships with the people I see in my practice. I have interests in pharmacogenomics as well as treatment resistant approaches to depression.

I am a board certified general psychiatrist. Before joining Talkiatry, I practiced extensively in community mental health with adults of all ages in both outpatient and inpatient settings and as the medical director of several intensive outpatient and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) based programs. I also have experience in private practice and in the dual diagnoses of mental health and substance abuse disorders. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology and then completed medical school at West Virginia University School of Medicine. I trained during my residency at WVU, where I served as a chief resident and received the Brandon K. Fuller Award for Physician Empathy in 2017. I appear in several professional publications.

My passions include working in the community at large to encourage a better understanding of mental health disorders and to promote suicide awareness and prevention.

I am board certified in general and child and adolescent psychiatry. My practice primarily focuses on medication management. I see myself as a collaborator with therapists and counselors in caring for their shared patients and their families. While I specialize in working with patients with anxiety, I do not prescribe benzodiazepines.

I received my medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. I completed my residency at West Virginia University Hospitals and WVU School of Medicine and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center, Yale University School of Medicine, and Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven and Middletown, CT. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Memphis.

After my fellowship, I remained in CT for two additional years, working in the Department of Children and Families, serving the state's at-risk youth and adolescents at a psychiatric residential treatment facility. I then returned to West Virginia University as clinical faculty in its School of Medicine. During that 12-year academic appointment, I had active roles in educating, training, and supervising medical students, general psychiatry residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, and trainees from various disciplines. I worked for many years with adolescent males at both the Dually Diagnosed and Specialized Residential Treatment Centers within West Virginia University Healthcare. I provided outpatient and acute inpatient care, as well as hospital-based consultation services. Within the community, I provided medication evaluation and management services to residential treatment facilities and university student health. I have been seeing patients and collaborating with providers through telemedicine since 2016.

I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist and have specialized in Addiction Psychiatry. I have a special interest in treating individuals having a substance use history and struggling to quit, and have expertise in treating patients with a dual diagnosis of substance use with other psychiatric conditions. I also have an interest in treating patients with mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders.

I completed my residency at the WVU campus of Charleston, WV, and completed the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at UPMC/Western Psychiatry Institute in Pittsburgh, PA. I previously worked as an Assistant Professor at WVU of Charleston, where I was involved in working with residents in inpatient and outpatient settings, provided psychiatric consult services to hospitalized patients, and was part of the Outpatient Comprehensive Opioid Treatment Program where I provided Medication Assisted Treatment for patients with substance use disorders.

I primarily do medication management, in addition to providing some supportive therapy and motivational interviewing in my 30-minute follow-up appointments. I may also suggest bringing in a therapist to add to your care if clinically necessary.

I am board certified in Adult Psychiatry. I primarily focus on medication management but integrate therapeutic support into my sessions. For more in-depth therapy needs, I encourage patients to have their own individual therapist. I particularly enjoy working with young adults and in areas related to women's health, such as perinatal mental health. I welcome people from all cultures and am LGBTQ+ friendly.

I received my undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and then moved to Morgantown, West Virginia to complete my psychiatry residency. I have experience working with patients from different backgrounds in inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization settings.

Dr. Georgia Gaveras holds the position of Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Talkiatry. She is triple board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and addiction medicine. She has been practicing for over 18 years. Dr. Gaveras's practice focuses on medication management. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. However, occasionally Dr. Gaveras may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. She received her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME, before moving back to NY to complete her residency at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. After completing training, she remained and worked with dually-diagnosed adolescents at the Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Education Service (CARES) before becoming the Director of Training and Education for the Mount Sinai St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals. She was then the associate director of child and adolescent emergency psychiatry at Cohen Children's Medical Center before becoming the Director of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Gaveras has held academic appointments at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Zucker School of Medicine, and SUNY Downstate Medical College. In addition, she has appeared in numerous professional publications and authored several research papers. In addition to general, child, and adolescent psychiatry, Dr. Gaveras is also board-certified in addiction medicine and trained in the Eating Disorders, Compulsions and Addictions Service (EDCAS) program at the William Alanson White Institute. She completed her undergraduate studies at New York University. While having treated a wide variety of patients, her primary clinical focus has been in treating adolescents and young adults with co-occurring substance use disorders.
